Set alongside the Opera House, of all of the restaurants visited this was my favourite, it had an ambience all of its own. Service was impeccable and the food (classic Hungarian cuisine) was exceptional, which was eaten while listening to live music recitals. It was probably the most expensive meal while we were in Budapest, but worth every penny!

Loved the building...we were told it was over 100 years old and just looked amazing! Prices were strangely value for money, for being such a posh place. We made a reservation, which was wise, though I did wonder why it was quiet when we went, as the day before we couldn't get a reservation. Turns out it gets busy when the opera is on.

The live classical music was enchanting and just added to the splendour to the venue!

My wife and I had been out all morning visiting the castle and then came to walk up Andrassy ut. Feeling a bit hungry and needing a lunch break we had the good fortune to stop here where we sat with a view of the opera house and the busy boulevard. We both enjoyed a gazpacho soup with cucumber sorbet followed by a shared mixed appetizer that included roasted red peppers with paprika, eggplant spread, feta cheese, prosciutto and some savory shrimp and fresh bread. Our break was accompanied by three entertaining musicians. Delightful break. Good and prompt service. Would definitely recommend.

The restaurant is situated just next to the Opera, the location and is very convenient for a lunch, dinner or even just a break for a coffee. Anyway, the lovely decoration and atmosphere is totally worth it, you will be transpointted in another era!
The cuisine is very exquisite (a mix between the international and the local one). The dessert menu is very extensive and it's a must in Callas Café!
