Of course, one would exepct this place to attract the theatre crowd, and it did. We had tickets to the opera, and it started fairly early so we wanted a nice place as we had got dressed up !.

Overall the food was good here. We had soup, salad and shared a sweet. Considering the location prices are Ok, and the food was well presented. I found the service again OK, if a little formal, as I think it takes itself too seriously. Perhaps they need to try just that little bit harder as they probably have a captive crowd.

Enjoyed a pre Opera meal here as it was so conveniently sited, right next door to the Opera House. Not the cheapest place to eat in Budapest but the service was first rate and the food excellent. Wine pretty wonderful as well, try the Villany... We were a little concerned that the perfect location may mean they didn't have to trouble too much to be good. Our concerns were completely unfounded and the looked after us really well despite being fairly busy. Great value for a gourmet experience.

We ate here in the early evening on our way back to our hotel after an afternoon in the baths.

We sat outside. Our waiter was friendly and attentive.

Our food took a while to arrive but was worth the wait.

Definitely worth a try if you're in the area

Although the Callas was near our wonderful hotel (K & K Opera), my wife and I didn't eat there until our last night in Budapest. If we'd tried it earlier, we'd have eaten there more than once. Try the tapas menu if you get there early enough that it's still available. (I think they stop serving this at 7 PM.)

We went for drinks at the end of a long day walking the town because our hotel was nearby. What a fun place! We ended up going back a couple more times and for dinner. Each night there was live music - a string trio with excellent violinists. One night, (there were a couple of groups there from out of the country) 2 opera singers joined into the fun. This is not serious opera, but "have a beer with you" singers. If you appreciate music you will love it. For food - the pastries drew us in in the first place. Beautiful and nummy. Our dinners were great - and a reasonable price for what you got (compared to all the other restaurants in Budapest). We will always go back here. This is the way I want to remember Hungary!!!!
