Found this place as we were walking back to our hotel from another really good restaurant on the same street called Cafe Kor. This place is a bit more upscale and I thought the food was a bit better. As others have stated the music was excellent the food is top notch and the prices are moderate. Staff is friendly, and service was good. I was surprised how good the Hungarian wines were. Beer is excellent too.

Thank Philipll

Quick food, service fast as never had same waiter, everyone does everything. Wine marked up x4 to cost. Wine servers only suggest most expensive wines.
Gypsy music nice. If you fancy nice music but paying for mediocre food and less than great service this is the restaurant for you.

My son and I visited this restaurant last weekend. It came highly recommended by the concierge of our hotel. According to him this was the best hungarian restaurant in the neighborhood.

Service was very good, very efficient. I really liked the music. The restaurant is made up of two rooms - or one if you like with a very large bar dividing the two rooms. The musicians are standing positioned between these two rooms. Music is very light. And not loud at all, very easy to continue the conversation. Great.

Food was very good. Busy restaurant, must make a reservation.

We found this restaurant on a side street near St Stephens Basilica. We had no reservation but they were happy to accommodate us and gave us a choice of where to sit. The interior was very modern and it had a great atmosphere. The staff were very friendly, they were especially helpful when ordering bottles of wine as we didnt know anything about hungarian wines. There was a good choice of menu. We had starters of scallops, and celery leafs on smoked goats cheese. The main course was venison and red cabbage and veal stew with beans. A shared cheese stack for dessert, coffee and a bottle of wine came to 26,000 fnt. approx £76 which was reasonable for first class service, excellent food, ambience and the live music which was played whilst we ate dinner. We shall return on our next trip to Hungary.

Reskakas Bistro was recommended by the concierge at our hotel. It is located not far from St Stephan's Cathedral. Very nice atmosphere with live music. Food was outstanding. The restaurant has an excellent wine list and a good choice of beers. Service was very friendly. Cost was average ($67 for two) Nice way to spend our last night in Budapest.
