“Elegant Hungarian cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013

I happened to stumble upon Karpatia at lunch time, an hour after I arrived in the city. I entered a fabulous, elegant establishment with a similar ceiling decoration to the Hungarian parliament. I was greeted warmly by waiters with French mustaches, and enjoyed a great meal accompanied by local classical music, and the service was exceptional. The food was very heavy though, so you might want to go there on an empty stomach like I did.

“First night in budapest”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

Didnt know where to go on first night in budapest so followed the trip adviser advise and ended up at the karpatia! Excellent service, excellent live music and a brilliant atmophere and building. Food was ok. the overall bill was expensive for the standard of food about £90 for set 3 course menu and a couple of glasses of wine each.

“100% tourist tramp”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2013

If you want to feel like a true tourist and go through all the tricks to be cheated, this is the place. Location is good, live music sounds good and the set is charming, though food is overpriced for Budapest standards. If you still decide to visit, be aware of the price of the offered aperitif drinks, 1400ft each. The dish named "explosion of Hungarian flavours", at 3700ft is more about salami than all the rest offered in the dish, definitively not worth the price. The oven baked goose foie grass was quite full of nerves and veins, and the bottle of wine arrived already opened. When the bill came sharp at 10:55pm, before they closed, they insisted us to pay in cash, due to technical problems with the machine. However, given that we had no cash, and that it would take us too long to go withdraw money from the nearest ATM, the machine magically turned out to work. It's this accumulation of details that moves me to highly unrecommend this place!

Music - magnificent and cultural
Building - incredible character
Service - wonderfully personal and attentive
Food - okay, especially considering the price is reasonably high

Amazing experience - food is the only let down (especially if your veg which my gorgeous girlfriend is). Extremely hospitable and accommodating staff though - building defo must be seen if u are happy to accept the food and price

“Very nice atmosphere, and good food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

The atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing. The wooden interior is nice. The live music was also good.

Both I and my wife enjoyed the food, it was delicious.

The value for money is OK, altogether it is a good restaurant.
