Description: Vibrant and inspiring, yet casual and affordable, KOLLÁZS - Brasserie & Bar is a contemporary European brasserie in a landmark Budapest location, overlooking the Chain Bridge and the Danube River. The Hungarian word for "collage," KOLLÁZS highlights creative combinations in all aspects of the dining experience. The interior design reflects the artistic era of the 1910s and '20s, honouring Art Nouveau style and Budapest's legendary coffee house culture. Conceived by EDG Design of San Francisco, the look is a collage of the old and new, the luxurious and simple, in keeping with the character of Budapest. Bringing together four distinct focal points - the rotisserie, bar, wine cellar and patisserie - as well as a convertible, all-season terrace, the environment feels hip and comfortable, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. To contrast the historic interior, the artwork on display is contemporary, featuring regularly changing shows curated by Art Market Budapest, the organizer of Eastern Europe's top international contemporary art fair. Chef Árpád Györffy - previously chef at Arany Kaviár and sous-chef at Alabárdos in Budapest - has created a menu that blends local and international flavors, as well as traditional and modern dishes. The focus is on modern European and French brasserie cuisine with signature Hungarian specialties. Cocktails are traditional yet with chic, modern flair, based on a bar menu created by Jaime Jones, the London-based international bar consultant and global gin connoisseur. Kollázs's sommelier, Mátyás Szik, has won twice the Hungarian Sommelier Championship - in 2013 and 2014 - and was previously head sommelier at Budapest's Prime Steak & Wine. The music at KOLLÁZS blends well-known songs, such as Hungarian and French tracks from the 1950s and '60s, with modern sounds - in a soundtrack selected exclusively for the restaurant. Headed by restaurant manager Mihály Kártyás, the KOLLÁZS team provides service that is casual, friendly and social. As part of the plan to create a lively atmosphere, the restaurant offers reasonable prices that are intended to attract an eclectic mix of people. As Budapest emerges as a modern metropolis, KOLLÁZS perfectly captures the dynamic spirit of the city: historic yet contemporary, timeless yet fresh, glamorous yet relaxed. KOLLÁZS promises to become one of Budapest's most popular dining destinations - welcoming with understated, informal elegance.

“Best Meal In Budapest!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2013

The service was impeccable: gracious, detailed, unassuming, not overbearing! Our waitress was delightful, had good recommendations, was perfectly on point.

The atmosphere/ambience was relaxed and elegant. The restaurant was only half-full, making this a bit of a hidden gem.

The menu options were varied: traditional Hungarian, Italian, and some dishes (like risotto) that might actually be typified as California Cuisine. The entrees were as beautiful to look at as they were flavorful and delicious. We enjoyed every bite!

This was absolutely, positively the best meal we had in Budapest!

“A Beautiful and delicious respite!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2013 via mobile

After walking Budapest for 2 days and having mediocre dining experiences (most top rated restaurants are closed on Sunday and Monday) we felt we deserved a lovely lunch in a gorgeous setting. We loved the setting, our very attentive waiter, the excellent beer, and the high quality food. The pace of the service/meal was perfect and we were rejuvenated after our dessert cappuccinos.

“Beautiful restaurant, charming atmosphere, superb food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013 via mobile

We visited this restaurant at the Four Seasons Gresham Palace of an evening and enjoyed the Italian menu. Food is of a high quality and very well prepared and presented. Service is elegant and attentive, and the atmosphere is charming. It is a little on the pricey side but worth it for an excellent and sophisticated dining experience.

“Great brunch & best service I have experienced in BP”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

I have been to several 5* hotel brunches in Budapest over the last couple of years (mainly when I have friends to visit, or special occasions). Last weekend we went to the Gresham for the first time and we were thrilled with our experience.

We had put off going to the Gresham for brunch for a while as, although unlimited soft drinks and coffees are included in the price, many other brunches in BP (all cost roughly the same) also include wine/beer/champagne which is ideal for birthday celebrations and is obviously "better value for money" if you do want to have a drink as the cost could skyrocket otherwise. However, as this occasion was not a boozy one, the Gresham was perfect and we didn't even miss a mimosa with our brunch. There was a never-ending supply of mineral water, tea, coffee and juices and their homemade blueberry and sage lemonade was divine.

The food selection was very good and high quality. There is a salad bar with fresh mixed salads, cold cuts, cheeses, fish and quiches etc, a whole bakery table, 3-4 hot main dishes including a carvery and a great desserts and ice cream table too. But this is not something that sets it apart from the other brunches in BP - all offer great food, and some have a much wider selection.

The part of our experience that really put it in a league of it's own was the level of service we received. Obviously 5* hotel service is generally good anyway (although you'd sometimes be surprised...), but this was something else. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left we were so incredibly well looked after it's hard to describe. It was the type of service where the waiting team knew you wanted something before you even knew you wanted it yourself, which doesn't happen very often in a city/culture that doesn't generally value customer service in the way the most people from the west do. I have worked for several years in high-end hospitality so can sometimes be quite critical of customer service, but this was faultless even for the highest expectations.

I would highly recommend that anyone coming to BP who is here on a Sunday to take advantage of this experience if they want to have a great few hours being pampered in the grandest of surroundings. It's also incredibly good value for money for such a great brunch.

An overall truly enjoyable and memorable afternoon. Thank you so much to the staff who made it so special! I can't wait to come back again soon.

Thank you so much for posting this fantastic, detailed feedback regarding your recent dining experience in our hotel on Tripadvisor public website. It was so rewarding to learn that even if at the beginning you were a bit reluctant to try our Sunday Brunch, thinking you would find better value for the price elsewhere, you finally decided to select our Gresham Restaurant as a nice venue for a special occasion.

I was extremely happy to read that you did not have any regrets at the end and had a fantastic dining experience. It is most gratifying to hear your praise of the high quality of service you received from our staff at the restaurant. I appreciate a great deal you recognizing our employees as they are our greatest asset. Your account of their professionalism only serves to confirm that belief.

There is nothing more motivating for us than receiving feedback like yours to continue providing services beyond our guests’ expectations.

Best regards,
