We ate at the Gresham our first night in Budapest (we were staying at the Four Seasons). Overall, we had a good meal and it was a nice introduction into Hungarian cuisine.
The menu gives diners three options: pre-fix, Italian and Hungarian. Since it was our first time in Hungary, our group ordered from the Hungarian menu. The service staff picked up on our enthusiasm to try everything because they brought out some Goulash soup for us to try on the house (with a delicious spicy Paprika oil that I ended up buying a bottle of because it was delicious). The soup was a nice start, as was the bread dipped in a pumpkin seed oil with apple balsamic.
Between the three of us, we started with smoked duck breast salad, smoked trout and foie gras two ways. The consensus of the group was that it was good. My Mom loved her foie gras. I thought my salad needed a bit more seasoning but, other than that, perfectly enjoyable.
For dinner, My Dad and I had the Chicken Paprikash (photo below). My Mom had a pasta dish. Again, everything was very good.
We did not try dessert as we were very full, but it looked great at the other tables.
Overall, we would definitely eat here again. Aside from a good meal, the service was excellent and the view was spectacular.
