For a budget hotel this was extremely good. The reception staff were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for you. Rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable. Buffet style breakfast gave a good choice which varied slightly day to day. The hotel location is superb right next to the Basilica and centrally located for all tourist attractions (everything is within walking distance). This price is superb for this quality of hotel, I would return tomorrow.

The location of this hotel is excellent - it looks out on to the Basilica and is in walking distance of all of the main tourist attractions. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars close to the hotel.

We stayed in one of the apartments which had two separate bedrooms and bathrooms and a common living area. The apartment was basic but functional and clean. The staff were extremely helpful and happy to provide us with a kettle, extra pillows when requested.

Two small grumbles: there was no complimentary water and you had to pay for wi-fi. The wi-fi was slow and kept on dropping out which is not acceptable when you have to pay for it.

However, I would stay in this hotel again due to its location.

Stayed here in early October (marathon weekend), great location, nice area and close to most things.

Rooms are spacious clean and comfortable. Bed was low but very comfortable. The buffet breakfast is the typical continental with meats, cheeses and pastries, Not to every ones taste but this a European hotel.

The staff here are very friendly and couldn't enough to help. We booked the return transfer via hotel and couldn't have easier considering there were 12 of us. I contacted reception to arrange for flowers and champagne for my wife's birthday which they did for a very reasonable cost.

Only disappointment was lack of lounge or bar to meet friends or go back to, especially on Sunday when most places closed by midnight.

Would I stay here again? Definitely.

Room Tip: Rooms are front have great view but be prepared for 6am bells!

The very first thing this hotel offers is its proximity to almost everything a traveler would wish to have: The Center! Walk to Danube, a few meters from the Basilica, a few meters from Metro and other transport, and restaurants all over the area. The prices too are very reasonable. The two receptionists have been very helpful.

We stayed here for five nights recently and found the hotel to be extremely clean and comfortable. The rooms were of a good size, beds clean and comfy and there were extra pillows, blankets etc provided. The buffet style breakfast was typical continental fare with cereals, yoghurts, cold meats, cheese and a few hot options as well such as scrambled eggs, french toast and franfurter sausages. It is an excellent central location for sight seeing but beware the prices in bars and restaurants as they are expensive and carry a service charge, better to walk out a little (try the Bali Cafe, very good)
The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. They booked us train tickets to Vienna (25 euros return, couldn't get to London and back in the uk for that) and called taxis, gave directions and so on. The people in Budapest were so nice, all were friendly and tried to help, even if they didn't speak much English. Definitely worth a visit.

We stayed at the Hotel Central Basilica as my wife had stayed here previously with work, is this the snazziest all singing all dancing hotel in Budapest? No would be the answer…however if you want a hotel that is close to everything in Budapest (the sites on the Buda side…Buda castle, Matthias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion are 20 minutes walk. Heroes Square and Vajdahunyad Castle is probably the furthest attraction and is 40 minutes walk away from the hote), with very helpful and lovely staff and at a cheap price then I don’t think you will do better! The rooms are a decent size and the bed is quite comfy, although you only get one pillow (per person) in the room and will need to ask at reception for extra pillows, but that’s depends on your personally preference. The breakfast is a standard continental affair, croissants, bread/rolls, meats, cheese, cereal, fruit etc and scrambled eggs nothing to bad or great. A major point of the hotel is the friendliness of the reception staff, where nothing is to much for them and they are always helpful and give you a map of the city on arrival. A taxi to the hotel from the airport costs between 6500 – 8500HUF and the hotel will order you a taxi for when you a leaving and you can store your luggage in the hotel after you have checked out if your flight isn’t till later that day.

Obviously you are within touching distance of the Basilica and the surrounding area and this isn’t the cheapest part of Budapest for food and drink, a pint (or large) beer is around 950HUF which works out at £2.50ish. You can get cheaper beer in Budapest but the bars are out from the centre and more or a walk, so it depends what you want from your trip to Budapest. If you want to come for a stag/hen do then Hotel Central Basilica might not be the best for you and I would recommend one of the hotels a little further out. However if you want a base for sightseeing and don’t mind paying slightly more for food and drink (although its still cheaper than UK) then you cant go wrong with the Hotel Central Basilica.

Standard 3-Star business hotel in Central Budapest. Hotel is close to all the tourist stuff, and government offices. Easy walk from hotel to the Chain Bridge.

The staff was very helpful, hotel is very clean, and the comp breakfast is excellent.

Very good value for the money, would stay there again.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the rooms overlooking the street.
