Owner description: Miniversum is one of the largest miniature exhibitions in the world, a top 10 place to visit when you are in Budapest. You can discover most of the sights and landmarks from Budapest and Hungary as well as a bit of Austria and Germany. Much to see in one stop: over 5000 miniature figures, 1000 motor cars and 100 trains are in motion in 14 towns and cities on the 1200 metres of rail tracks. There are interactive screens that show original photos of the sights on the layout, so that you can compare the miniature with the original. You can also control the ongoing traffic here and there and bring to life all sorts of actions, motions, sound and light effects. After exploring all amusing details the little ones can play free of charge at the Miniversum playhouse while adults can enjoy some time out with drinks and snacks in the Café. For those interested in technology the Miniversum control room with its huge monitor wall offers a fascinating experience to observe the operation of the exhibition. As a matter of fact, it is difficult to put into words or show on pictures what you are going to see. Come and experience MINIVERSUM with us, we will surely take your breath away! Let yourself be enchanted and you will grow to discover that it is "just like the real thing", and how crazy and miniscule things we could construct in the mini world of MINIVERSUM. Visit Miniversum, explore, behold and control it yourself!

As a group of adults we decided to visit here and see what it was like. The place itself was much bigger than we thought and covered areas of Hungary, Austria and Germany. It's amazing how much detail they've gone into and if you look closely you'll see amusing little things that they've put in. Spent a good couple of hours here and loved every minute of it. We all enjoyed the interactive parts as well even though the youngest is twenty five!

My husband and I had a great time at Miniversum! As others have noted, it is most fun to watch from the kids' eye level...and pack your patience if you're going to test all of the buttons. We couldn't spot all of the moving parts, and some of them take awhile to materialize.

This is a model village with loads going on. We went on our last day in Budapest where we were just looking for a bit of a chill out and some air con. We enjoyed it much more than we thought we would. Each 'city' has a load of activity including bits to be controlled by the user. Bonus points for the ludicrously bad taste of being able to control a paramedic giving somebody chest compression CPR!

Miniversum is a a brilliant family attraction; rooms and a large enclosed courtyard full of miniture models, railways and buildings. The attraction is well designed, has an incredible level of detail, and variety of models and locations to keep the kids excited and entertained throughout. Everything from Heros Square, villages, circus, lakes, historical castles, mountains, ski slopes, military and so much more. I didnt count, but there are miles of train tracks and trains constantlz moving around the scenes. There's a cafe with good snack food, and a play area where children can build their own railways.

Adults, when looking at the minature scenes sit down on the wooden ledge so that you're at eye level with the layout. It's singificantly better than always viewing from above. Look out for the dinosaur!

every few feet they provide buttons which can be pressed by visitors. Some flash lights, some turn wind turbines, or switch on little fountains. There's no guidance as to what button does what. I'm assuming Miniversum thinks its a fun challenge trying to spot what button does what action. It's not. It gets really frustrating for kids and adults pressing a button and having no idea what it does. Either I'm bad at this game, or by estimates 30-40% of the buttons don't work. I wish they could be labelled.

Dear Adrian,

Thank you for your time and effort writing such a thorough review. We appreciate the positive comments! :)

Re. your improvement point: this is a constant debate here whether or not to let visitors know which button does what on the layout. The general concensus by now is that kids prefer to search for each activity whilst adults have less pateince to wait and see. Whilst there's a chance that one or two of the actions would not have worked (as we check and repair overnight), 30% of them it definitely cannot have been.

We will continue to monitor this issue closely and if we begin to feel that the overwhelming public opinion is shifting towards labelling the actions, then we would do so.

I loved your recommendation point in particular though: this is what we always say, and actually indicate on the flip side of the tickets, too! Get down to see everthing at eye level and a whole new world will come to life!! :)

With kind regards, Attila

It is worth a visit! Very nice models of Hungarian (and Austrian/German) cities and of course many railroads and trains.
