The room was clean. Being at the front of the hotel it suffered from tramway noise for much of the night. The rooms are not air-conditioned and the reception could not loan or hire us a fan, despite the temperature being 30+C! The rooms contained no guest information and we misunderstood dinner time and had to search for a local restaurant on our first night. Breakfast was a mediocre buffet, but on our last day we found guests receiving freshly-cooked bacon and egg (but no menus were supplied and the staff did not mention this possibility).
Finally, if you are worried about surviving fires in hotels, you need to note that there are no smoke detectors, no fire alarms and no smoke control doors apart from the actual bedroom doors. I guess this fits with the Hungarian law, but most of the inrternational hotels in Budapest have sprinklers, alarms and the like.
Despite the staff being quite nice and trying their best, I would not rush back to this hotel, but I would be confident about its cleanliness, which was impeccable.
