St. George Residence

Staying at the St George's Residence one gets a feeling that one is re-living history. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, a special word about Istavan, he was really a talisman. The environs are serene, beautiful and majestic. The overall experience is in-comparable. The daytime is bustling with activity around the hotel but as evening comes and night draws near the surrounding area becomes quiet and serene. It radiates a sort of calmness and has a soothing effect on the body, mind and soul. Truely an unforgettable experience. Waiting for an encore and that too as early as possible.

We liked the castle building and the rooms. The gold room that we upgraded to was huge and featured a jacuzzi bathtub. You had to walk a bit to get to the kitchen area although it is open space design. The furniture and design was fit for a lordly mansion (which the building actually looks like, more than an actual castle) what with the puffy chairs and baroque style. The restaurant was also good and surprisingly inexpensive relative to the hotel. The location is excellent, straight in the middle of the touristic area on Castle Hill (Buda, the west shore of Danube).

I hadn't expected almost a large self catering apartment, missing only easy chairs but with antique furniture and dining table and to be welcomed with complimentary glass of champagne and a bottle of wine. The location was fabulous in the Castle area..but tucked away from the stream of tourists. The reception staff and particularly a slender young man were very helpful in helping us plan our stay and seemed to know exactly when we were moving luggage as we saw no elevators. It was very easy to catch the number16 bus to the other side of the river and very lovely for evening strolls .

This is not a hotel, it's a palace! Stunning interiors for a good price, highly recommended! You get a bottle of wine as a welcome treat. The street parking is €10, the hotel does not offer parking, there's a great restaurant literally across the road

Is a very nice location, close to the historical objectives. The personal is very friendly and the building has an historical look. Access to the hotel is a little bit difficult, you must pass through barrier for old town.

Room Tip: I was just in silver apartment and I recommend this.

Unfortunately writing this review will likely contribute to an appropriate increase in prices for this hotel. Simply put, this is the best value I've EVER had for an overnight stay in a major city. Some guests may be put off by the lack of parking, a lift, or a bellman...with these the prices should be doubled. Since the property is in the historic district, finding parking during the day is a problem, but early in the morning or late in the day without the buses and tourists it's not a problem. Since there are only two floors a lift would be silly, and a bellman would have to fight the throng of tourists outside the door during the day.
