The hostel is really recommendable. I stayed there 4 nights in March 2012. Reception staff is great, they speak perfect english. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and the bed is confortable. You have your own locker in the room free of charge and the provide you with a padlock.
The situation is perfect. It's in a very quiet street 2 minutes walking from 2 different metro stations just on downtown.
I would recommend it to everyone is going to Budapest.

Although it seemed kind of sketchy when I arrived at night in the rain (its located off a main road), I found this place to be really nice and comfortable. Its small, which is nice because its not overrun with people. The airport shuttle will bring you right to the door, but its very easy to get to the airport by public transit as well. Everything is in walking distance, and the place is very clean. Staff are friendly and helpful! Free wifi, and this is the first hostel Ive been in that has free internet access on their own computers, which is nice! Lockers are nice, and the hostel has a lot of information about what to do in the city.

So welcoming and so helpful.
Great location and the rooms are very spacious.
I now love Budapest, partly because of this hostel and its staff.

Room Tip: Room I stayed in had nice high ceilings and lots of space.

I'm a regular visitor to Budapest and this is a lovely place - staff are super-friendly and helpful, young and knowledgeable. They directed my to some of the best places I've ever found in Budapest. Rooms are comfortable and spacious, even those meant for couples.

Selected this hostel due to location & price, and were pleased. Double room was essentially a dorm room for our exclusive use which gave us lots of space. Owner on the desk was incredibly helpful and would proactively check everyone was OK & had everything they needed. We were allowed to hang about in the communal area in the afternoon after our check out which was also very valuable.

My husband and I stayed for five nights at the Ginkgo Hostel and had a great experience. We opted to have our own room, which turned out to be large with a comfortable bed. The owner of Ginkgo and everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful. The hostel is on a side street (just off of a main road) and we found it to be a great location for good restaurants and bars as well as visiting the main attractions. We experienced some car/truck noise outside our window in the morning, but I think that would be hard to avoid if you are staying anywhere in the central part of the pest side. Gingko itself was very quiet and did not have the party atmosphere that many hostels do. Overall, it was a great experience at an affordable price and we would definitely stay there again.
