Yes the building is lovely, yes the rooms are nice, yes the location is good but Albert is the definite star of the show! As has been stated previously, his recommendations were always spot on, be it a restaurant - try the Ket Szerecsen (Two Saracens) restaurant (the duck, rhubarb and potato dumplings is worth a mention) or a bar (try the Instant ruin bar a short walk away - 23 rooms, six bars). Will definitely be returning to Budapest and staying at the Kapital Inn again.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Kapital Inn for six consecutive nights last month. It was such a fabulous experience that we plan to return for another stay soon.

What made it so special? Albert. He made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. His warm personality and sense of humor made our trip so enjoyable. While we were a long way from home, we felt like he quickly became our good Hungarian friend. Quick to offer useful directions or suggestions for places to visit, he helped us navigate Budapest easily. He made many excellent restaurant suggestions. He gave us the inside scoop of things to do or skip at the various places we visited. For example, he told us to skip the live singing performance at the Opera House, which is an extra fee and which takes place in the Opera House’s bar and not the theater. (When we were at the Opera House, we overheard people complaining that the live singer was a complete waste of money.) Albert checked in with us each day to make sure we were enjoying our trip and that we had everything we needed. He obviously loves his job and is excellent at it.

The Kapital Inn itself is centrally located in the Pest side of Budapest and clean – immaculately clean. The rooms are modern and the bathrooms quite stylish and large. The Inn is very quiet – particularly at night. Our room faced the street and we heard no street noise at all. We slept soundly each night we were there.

Among his many talents, Albert is an excellent cook. He made us scrambled eggs and omelets for breakfast, which were both terrific. The kitchen on the fifth floor is amply stocked with cereals, juices, fruit, bread and pastries. Guests can help themselves to sodas, juices and wine in the refrigerator during the day. After telling Albert that we drink Coke Zero, an entire shelf of Coke Zero seemed to miraculously appear in the refrigerator. As soon as we removed one can of Coke Zero, a replacement can seemed to immediately appear.

Now that we have been home for two weeks, we’ve had time to reflect on our Budapest vacation. We fell in love with Budapest and would highly recommend it to all travelers. We’re very grateful to Albert for helping us fall in love with his city and for taking such good care of us during our stay. It was one of the best vacations of our lives. Albert, thanks so much for everything! We miss you!

Okay, what can I say about the Kapital Inn that hasn't already been written in the previous 300 plus reviews? Nothing, except my personal recommendation as being one of the best places to stay in Budapest! Based on my recent 6 night stay, here's why I recommend it. It's location - one block from Andrassy Ut and within easy walking distance to many of the major sights. It offers easy access to public transportation, one block from a metro station and close to bus and tram routes. Within walking distance of many excellent restaurants and cafes. The accommodations - 4 clean, comfortable, modern rooms with contemporary decor and excellent amenities, two with large private bathrooms. Located on the top floor of a residential apartment building in a quiet neighborhood. Access to a small kitchen offering beverages and snacks. A varied and hearty breakfast of pasties, breads, cereals, yogurts and eggs, freshly prepared. A large comfortable outdoor heated patio with tables, lounges and TV. It's a wonderful place to relax and talk with the other guests. And my final reason to recommend it, Albert the owner and your host. Albert is friendly, considerate, knowledgeable and a perfect host. He's always available to help with sightseeing, dining and entertainment suggestions, all of which were perfect. When we left, we felt like we were leaving a good friend.

The Kapital Inn is even better than what other reviewers have said! Staying there was relaxing and fun and comfortable and I would highly recommend it to all travelers. Albert is truly a great host and the Inn is as great as it is because of his attention to every detail. We were pleased with the information about where to go and what to see that he had for us; we followed his recommendations which resulted in a great vacation in a beautiful city that is doing so well recovering from a tumultuous history. Thank you to Albert for such a fine Inn!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautiful and very well appointed with a contemporary style of design.

You won't find a better buy in Budapest than this reasonably priced, artfully renovated penthouse B&B, located only a block off Andrassy Avenue, one of the city's loveliest boulevards. The rooms are not only modern and attractive, but ours was equipped with its own laptop. Having attended college in Boston, Albert, the proprietor, speaks perfect English and knows every nook and cranny in the city. The B&B is a walkup, but fear not--Albert insists on carrying up your luggage himself, a welcome service.

We added a 2 night stay at the Kapital Inn to the beginning of a cruise on the Danube. We made our reservation based entirely on the almost too good to be true reviews. Well, if anything, the reviews are understated. If allowed, we would give more stars.
As others have said, the rooms are very nice, modern, and the beds very comfortable. The patio area is a lovely place to relax, eat, and talk to other guests - and most of all to enjoy Albert's company. Rest assured you will not meet another innkeeper as genuinely warm, inviting, caring, or interesting. And, he is an excellent chef (and artistic) too! It was a true pleasure to learn about Budapest from him, to see the sights he recommended based on his asking about our interests, and to enjoy a wonderful restaurant he suggested. We also went to the Szechenyi Baths and had very good massages. (Again on Albert's recommendation.)
Yes, the rooms are on the 4th floor, and yes, it is much easier because Albert carries your bags! It is well worth the effort.
Like others, we recommend the Kapital Inn wholeheartedly and without reservation. We will remember it - and Albert for a long, long time.

Room Tip: 2 of the rooms are en suite, and 2 share a bathroom.

What a great find in the wonderful city of Budapest....situated in a lovely old apartment building our impeccably clean and spacious room was very comfortable. The common deck area was well furnished and inviting...like an oasis in the middle of the busy city! And then there is Albert...can't speak highly enough of our personable and well informed host...he is genuinely interested in ALL his guests. It is up 4 flights of stairs(plus another flight once you arrive at the apartment!)...but the end result is well worth the climb...besides.....Albert carries up the luggage!!
We had a most enjoyable time visiting Albert and his lovely city...there is SO much to see...we only scratched the surface!
We hope to stay with Albert again....when we return to Budapest!
PS Albert's omelettes are THE BEST!!!
