The workers there were very friendly and the hostel is very well situated, however, we were badly bitten by bugs and now i´m suffering a lot because of it... sorry, but from my point of view, this hostel is worht it :(

I was last weekend in the Unity Hostel. The hostel is located just behind the opera and in the central bars. The installations besides the entrance is a little bit scary are just perfect. You have all you can need: Kitchen, Washing Machine and even a Terrace with nice views of Budapest. The staff help me since the first moment and they even show me how to cook the Hungarian plate "Pörkölt", thank u Eszter . I really recommend this hostel for all the people that it is going to Budapest you will just find your place in the city :)
Perfect stay in a friendly calm atmosphere, staff is amazing, took a sample care of us, always helpful, rooms are very pretty, breakfast great, not just terrible toast bread and jam but rich choice, 2 comps+wifi available, worked well. Bathrooms always clean. One little negative, it was a bit cold at night, but otherwise very nice, will stay here again..recommend and thx
Apart from that the hostel was excellent, the kitchen was good and there was a tesco nearby that sold well boss cheap noodles, dry crackers and bin bags, basically all you need for a romantic night in.
The entrance is a little bit scary but the small hostel is quite good! the breakfast is ok. everything you need is there. The location is very good. we had the private room II. the beds have been quite big. also the kitchen offers anything you need. the staff had some tips where to go and staff. we had a nice time!
I am 50 yrs old, travelled with my 22 yr old daughter. Lifetime member of YHA. My father is Hungarian, I last visited in 1985. Hungary has changed a lot. I found the hosel quite comfortable and clean. Staff were excellent, breakfast very good. Location excellent. Building was not difficult to find. Other travellers, mostly younger were well behaved. Not advertised as a party hostel although some did come in very late but were very respectful and quiet. Only problem was the entry to the building, seems like some of the guys couldn't wait to use the toilet. Other than that I found the place fine unless someone doesn't like mixed dorms which seem to be pretty normal in Europe. You would pay a lot more for private accomodation. We did a six week trip and found Unity Hostel pretty okay. I would go back again and hope to one day. P.S. I find a lot of the youth today are very spoilt and seem to want all the mod cons.
