“...could have been worse for such a super-cheap place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

... Based on other reviews about this hostel, I really wasn't expecting much in terms of sleep quality etc - especially over the Christmas/New Year holidays, but I was there to visit my family, not languish in the lap of luxury. It was ...ok. I wouldn't recommend it for a stay of more than 3 or 4 nights - I stayed 10 nights and at least half of those nights were interrupted by noisy neighbours through my paper-thin wall.

Pros
Location: while a bit out of the centre, Keleti Station (connections to Vienna etc) and the underground were only an easy 10 minute walk away. Public transport in Budapest is very good, and a weekly travel card at 4600ft will get you almost everywhere. I felt safe walking around at all hours, despite the slightly run-down neighbourhood. There are lots of 24/7 convenience stores close by.

Room: pretty clean and very warm. While down the corridor, the bathrooms were cleaned daily, I never had to wait for the shower, and the water water was boil-an-egg hot and seemingly limitless.

Service: the front-desk staff were very friendly and helpful (a surprise given Dianne D's review). Breakfast was monotonous (stale-ish bread, lunchmeat, cheese, spreads, burnt coffee and juice), but as it was included in my hotel/flight deal - which was VERY cheap, I couldn't really complain.

Cons
Room: bed linen wasn't changed for me in over the week that I was there. The walls are very thin, and even a muted conversation in the next room sounds like it's in the room with you.

In summary, I felt like I got what I paid for. I wouldn't stay there as long as I did again, but if you're looking for a cheap 'doss' for a few nights in Budapest, you could probably do worse (or at least more expensive).

I was recently staying in the hotel. Some personal belongings were stolen from my room, they tried to charge tourist taxes which I already paid before leaving the uk. Before booking I read a desciption that with ensuite, there are two showers in the corridor. They also tried to charge me for breakfasts, not once was I even in the BnB to when there was breakfast available. The rooms are very small, there is no fridge, no tv and no wifi connection, only down in the reception area. The staff were not so nice niether, they never smiled and one member of staff even threw my room key at me. Not worth the money at all.

No TV and no water in rooms, internet available only close to reception. But it is always clean and quiet.

We stayed 4 nights. The building was old. Our room was tidy and looked clean. Every day someone was coming and kept it this way. The curtains was too thin the first two days that if we wasn't so exausted from walking around i was not sure that i could sleep when the sun was coming up. 1+1 toilet and total 3 bath showers for every floor. Nevertheless looked clean. Last day there was not warm water to take a shower but i guess that it was a temporary problem. The people in the reception were polite and helpfull. To summarize , if you need a place so you can just sleep the night i suppose it is ok, but i believe that with the same amount of money we could have find something that offers more.

it is a low price place, a bit sad, it is ok for sleeping if there are not drunk guests at the same floor.
it is situated in a quite area between the airport and the city centre, there is a train station not so far away (take there the bus 7 or 173 for reaching closer to the volano bus station , where there are busses for memento park., avoid sundays)
in dominik panzio like everywhere in budapest , speaking english is an opinion!
