The price of these baths was what first made us decide to visit. We bought student tickets for 1700 HUF each which seemed much more affordable than others that we looked at visiting.

The baths themselves are amazing. They haven't been redone in a long time (since the 1950s I think) but this adds to the character of the place. There are lots of baths with different temperatures as well as a steam room, two saunas and a jacuzzi. Over the main bath there is a beautiful dome which adds more charm to the place.

There seemed to be a lot of locals using the baths and it definitely didn't have a touristy feel- something which made the experience more authentic. The baths are also mixed so perfect if you are in Budapest with a partner. If I went back to Budapest I would go again.

The Kiraly was my first experience of a Budapest bath. I chose to visit this one first because it is one of the oldest, dating to the 16th century Ottoman period. It is very much like the hamams I have visited in Turkey. It is old and historic, so don't expect it to be gleaming and spiffy like something out of Disney. This is an ancient bath and looks the way a hamam of its age should look. The important thing is that it is clean and well used. There were many people on Sat afternoon of all ages. There is the main pool at 36 celsius. Other smaller pools are maintained at different temperatures. There is also a jacuzzi, steam and dry sauna.

So, you want to experience a thermal bath house in Budapest? Well this is a must for anyone looking to relax and to also experience something quite surreal. On first impressions it has a this early 1900s basement hospital feel to it which is quite spooky but once you've explored a bit more and found the thermal baths it's actually a pleasant and relaxing place to be (which is the point). The main thermal bath, which is 36 degrees C is the biggest and most popular, although when we went in the middle of the week and late afternoon there was only a dozen or so bathers. Now that I have experienced another thermal bath in Budapest during the same trip I would recommend a visit to Kiraly Baths as well to appreciate what they both have to offer. The price is relatively cheap for what you get. Some advice would be to take a towel as the ones they hire-out resemble an NHS bed sheet and also take a pair of flip flops to keep your feet clean.

If you want to see what it was like going to spa back in the days this is the place for you. Although Budapest has cleaner and more exclusive thermal baths this one seems the most authentic and worth seeing, specifically for its curious interiors, for some resemblind those from horror films, especially in the evening.

Not as nice as some of the other baths. Seemed a bit run down and foud the people who worked there a bit rude. The only good thing is you want to go with your girlfrind/boyfrind you can as its unisex. Most of the other baths are male only. I would Go somewhere else if I was you.
