“Worth a quick visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2012

Not a huge museum, but it is conveniently located next to the Synagogue on Dohany Street, on the site of Theodor Herzl's birth. It has what you would expect in a Jewish museum. I, and several people I was with, were very affected by a display of a dress and drum covers made out of prayer shawls.

While the museum may not be anything out of the ordinary, the Hungarian Jewish Archives, located in the same building, in the Dohány Street Synangogue offer fascinating pieces of personal history (http://jewish.hu/view.php?clabel=zsido_leveltar) The Family Research Center is also located near by at Wesselényi Street 7. Multilingual, trained staff helps in collecting the genealogical data.

“Worthy of Ones Time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2012

Very interesting museum very unique in it's nature.

Guides were helpful and informative and provided a wealth of information on the history of the Jewish people in Budapest.

It is not big in size but still it will consume you and like myself will be amazed that you had spent several hours viewing a display that is really just in 4-5 rooms

If you get to Budapest this is worthy of your time to see.

“Not convincing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2012

Displays meant nothing with the guides and even then felt there was little value offered by the museum over the memorial and synagogue.
