This is a really good market hall for shopping for food ingredients to cook at home.
This is not a tourist market but a local food shopping place.
There are 2 levels but all the real vendors are on the ground floor, lots of fresh produce, fruit, butchers and pickle vendors. You can find most of what you want to prepare here.
Also the restaurant at the entrance is worth a try and in front of it they have lots of pre-cooked foods such as rotisserie chicken and various cuts of pork, plus fried fish. Also not to be missed is one of the pickle booths, I can give you the name but the pictures I post will problem help you out more, not only does the lady that runs this booth have some of the best pickles ive purchased in Budapest but she also speaks great English, not to be missed are her Pickled Plums.... absolutely one of the best things I've ever eaten, not too pickled and still firm with just a hint of sweetness, these are produced by her family following an old secret family recipe, simply amazing!!!
The #3 metro takes you right to their door, just get off at the Lehel Ter stop and take a look around.

Do not follow the TA map to go to this market. The market is located in front of the Lehel Ter metro/tram/bus stop. If you are looking for a tourist destination this is not the place. If you want to hang out with the locals and see how they shop then this is for you. This place is huge. On the ground level is the butcher shops, farmers market, bakerys, and shops selling household needs and packaged food. Upstairs there were clothes, bags, some cooked food and in the center was a couple of cafes, a noodle place, and a bar where all the senior citizens were having a beer. Also there is a Prima supermarket in the basement. We love this market.

Found this market much better than the other bigger market. Prices here are cheaper, has very similar produce for sale, but lacks a good food court

We saw a lot of locals doing their daily shop there. One can find everything from fruit and veg to clothes and housewares there. And it is not too far from the centre. If I return to Budapest, the market will be on my list "to visit" again.

Good place to buy fresh fruits & vegetables , honey etc with locals . It was opened from early morning about 6 a.m. but they close it very early too.

Every tourist in Budapest knows the Central market Hall near the Main Customs square. In fact there are' probably, more tourists there than locals... The Lehel Market is the real local market, and as such much more attractive. It definitely serves mainly the locals. If you want to see authentic market - that is your choice.

Get a real taste of local daily life by dining and relaxing with locals!
At the Lehél Tér Market Hall you easily will find out what residents like to eat and drink. What's more it is also a way to expierience the locals life of Budapest.
Get a fröcs or pálinka in one of the bars. It's always very busy, it's worth to visiting if you want to avoid touristy places and want to see real life! Actually it's a great place to spend morning before enjoying the sightseeing :) You can get here fresh vegetables and fruits, hungarian wines (there are two stands) and plenty other local products. Open every day.

Budapest has a lot of market halls, while this is not the biggest, this is the most convenient. It has the convenience of free parking up to 90 minutes on most days. We do most of our food shopping here. This place is geared for locals and not a tourist attraction per se. Prices of beer, chocolate, and household cleaning supplies are perhaps the cheapest in the city. There are two supermarket style fruit and vegetable shops at each end of the market on the ground floor and allows you to personally select your items. I highly recommend this market for all of your shopping.

It was great to see a local market thanks to TripAdvisor reviews.

Fascinating to see so many different types of pickles! We enjoyed the place a lot but I don’t seek glamorous tourist spots.

Glad to have had a chance to peek into ordinary life.
