If you're in for coffee and some great cakes, Cafe Noe is the place to try something unique: flodni. Flodni is a layered cake with apple cream, walnut cream, poppy seeds and plum jam. Prepared after a special Jewish recipe, it can be traditionally bought in two small cafes in the Jewish Quarter and this is one of them. The cafe is otherwise cosy and just about the right size to be able to go with some friends as well. The name takes after some of the decoration of the place which is seafaring related.

It is a bit tucked away but definitely worth walking there if you want to try ones of the best Cakes Budapest has to offer. Surely, the Flodni is the must try, but I can assure you everything else is just as great too. Especially the Chocolate and Cinnamon cake.
There are not many seating tables so you might have to take it away if there’s a couple people inside already.

Little tucked in place serving BEST CAKE in town! Rachel’s FLODNI - I would trade it for all the other cakes I tried in Budapest!

Will I eat it again, probably not as I found it very sweet with too much going on. This is my personal taste but there was nothing wrong with the cake and I’m glad I tried it. It was fresh, well constructed and a generous serving. The service was friendly and prompt.
