We did the full day Danube Bend Tour in May 2013. The tour is a good way to see more of Hungary beyond just Budapest. The tour covers 3 beautiful towns of Esztergom, Visegrád and Szentendre - in that order. The drive from Budapest to these towns is scenic and there are some breathtaking views en route. The first stop is Esztergom - a beautiful cathedral that serves as the of the Catholic Church in Hungary. Since this is on the border of Hungary and Slovakia, you also have an opportunity to make a brief visit into the neighboring country! From there you move to Visegrad - the view really has some nice photo-ops on the way! Here you break for lunch - some nice restaurants right next to the river. Post this, the trip continues to the last town of Szentendre - an artisan village - with wonderful shopping and wine tasting experience. Spend time walking around the cobble-stoned pathways - look for souvenirs and artifacts, eat the local food, drink all types of wine - simply have a great time. And then on the way back, you take a approximate 1 hour boat ride on the Danube - quite charming.
A great way to spend the day!
