Srof is quite simply a wonderful little pub/bar that serves great quality food at remarkably reasonable prices.
I visit Budapest fairly frequently and stay at the Corinthe hotel. Srof is usually my first port of call.
Set over 3 levels this place is the antithesis of all the bars and restaurants on Ferenc terrace opposite.
Staff are friendly and efficient, the food is always good and the prices are fantastic.
There is a fine selection of palinka, live football shown when on and upstairs has a very funky old school Star Wars poster.
If you are looking for somewhere to unwind and have a drink and a bite to eat then you really can't go wrong by visiting this place

Food here is brilliant, the wine is great and the prices are especially reasonable. We ate here twice, the first time was after 11pm following a bottle of wine and the second at 11.45 in the morning two days later before we went home. Food was some of the best we had. Simple but perfectly done. The traditional dishes we're absolutely delicious and much less salty than some traditional food we had.

Food cannot be faulted, tried the goose, ribs and pork. All beat expectations. Large glass of Hungarian wine just £2 and food from between £3 to £10. Staff very friendly and obliging. Well worth a visit.

A little gem. This neighbourhood pub and restaurant in District VII serves very good quality food at really affordable prices. Best were the barbecued spare ribs at around $8 which come with wonderful potato wedges. Salads and burgers also work well. The place has sidewalk tables and indoor seating both upstairs and down. Owner Peter Kiss is there most of the time and the service is quick, friendly and efficient. During the season there's live English Premier League action (not Sky but Hungarian channels) and beer is very reasonable at just over $2 for a pint of the excellent Dreher brew. Skip the majority of the over-priced and over-rated places on nearby Liszt Ferenc Ter and give this a try.
