“Really interesting”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

I wish there would have been more information in English, and that a school group wouldn't be preventing me from hearing everything. Please know when you go, that it's the actual building where the torturing happened, not a reenactment. Take your time and really consider what you are looking at when you get to the basement/chambers. It didn't hit me until I saw a girl sobbing, because her great grandfather had been imprisoned there.

“Very sad, but a must to visit”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

Visiting the House of Terror takes you on a journey back to Budapest's dark past. Its very sad seeing all the faces of people who have died, looking into their eyes and thinking what they must have gone through.

I think everyone should find the time to visit this place to help you understand what the people of Budapest have been through.

“a must see”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

Astonishingly the Nazi and Communist Secret Police HQ is right on a main street. Unbelievable atrocitiies committed here. People imprisoned, tortured, murdered. A very moving exhibit and tribute to the Hungarian spirit.

“I did not like the way it was presented....”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

There were series of videos talking about their stories - but it was so fragmented that I did not get the full picture or the histories.
There were English translated reading information in each room but over all, the presentation is not effective.

“Bureaucratic monstrosity.”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

A bland bureaucratic office building that once housed the secret police, now with TERROR in metal letters around the upper edges. Very effective.
