“I did not like the way it was presented....”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

There were series of videos talking about their stories - but it was so fragmented that I did not get the full picture or the histories.
There were English translated reading information in each room but over all, the presentation is not effective.

“Bureaucratic monstrosity.”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

A bland bureaucratic office building that once housed the secret police, now with TERROR in metal letters around the upper edges. Very effective.

“A better understanding”
Reviewed October 25, 2012 via mobile

This museum may enlighten many who never truly understood the atrocities that occurred here, as well as in other ex-communist countries. As others pointed out, it's not perfect, but with all the details and explanations avalable in each exhibit room you'll leave with a better understanding of what happened. Take your time, read the individual leaflets, during or even after your visit, and slowly take in what the rooms have to offer. The self guided tour of the building will take about two hours.

“Interesting and very educational”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

I really didn't think I would enjoy this. My husband is a history buff and wanted to go. It really was very interesting and really gave you a feel for what it was like in Budapest during that time and what the people who lived there suffered through. It made me appreciate the rest of our visit more. It was really well done.

“Good luck if you only speak English”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

Not much translation. Although when you see the cells in the basement, no words are needed. Our Hungarian guide told us his maternal grandfather was here and went mad, I can see why. A haunting experience but helps .you understand Budapest and the hard lives of many of the inhabitants and their families.
