“Terrible !!!”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

You must be lucky to read the reviews first. Dinner and cruise seems to be a perfect choice for last night in Budapest. I asked Budapest Marriott Hotel staff to reserve for us. I guess it must be nice as price is not that cheap (10800 HUF). However, it turn out to be worst experience in my trip.
1. The food was horrible.... I believe traditional Hungarian food is not that bad.
2. I reserved 2 seats a day before but cruise staff told us that we about to get ticket after paid that we need to join other table on the cruise day. It really weird to sit in table with another couple (all of them are 4-seats tables). If I know I would book it in the first place.
3. My chair is next to the pole, I almost need to crawl to get out of my chair, no space at all.
In summary, IT'S NOT WORTH MONEY AT ALL. I suggest you to sit along side with river to enjoy the view. It has no different and FREE. It seems legitimate but I feel like I got swindled T_T. I should read review from Pierre M before I went there. I feel exactly the same.

“A lovely cruise on the Danube”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

Well the price isn't very low but it was a lovely evening, I enjoyed the food, it was lovely to see the city lit up and see the bits we just didn't get around to. The music was lovely and the staff very friendly. It was what i hoped it to be, a lovely cruise on the Danube.

“Nothing Spectacular”
Reviewed April 12, 2013 via mobile

We decided a trip on the river was needed in Budapest so me and my girlfriend booked onto this cruise.

As expected the views where spectacular. We left at dusk and got to see everything light up. The champagne arrival was very nice and we had plenty of space on board.

Unfortunately it did not fully live up to our hopes. The food was OK, nice to be able to try a few different bits but nothing spectacular. The band was food to have but they do come scrounging for tips, when I have paid for a cruise with music I don't expect to have to pay the band! They come around the table and do not leave until you slip a note into the violin and then tried to sell us a CD as well!

Extra drinks were reasonably priced but did feel like they were on the hard sell for after dinner drinks. There was also a photographer who took a photograph as you arrived that you can buy. I must say it was a very nice picture and he was extremely polite with us and not at all pushy so we did buy it (2000 HUF).

Finally I would echo the point that an extra 1/2 hour would have been nice to let your food settle whilst taking in the views, not that it felt like they raced round, just would have been nice.

We did enjoy the evening (I don't regret it) and it is a great way to see the city. Just don't expect to not spend much more or gastropub quality on board.

Cruising the river with a typical Hungarian meal sounded like the best way to end up our journey in Budapest! If only we had known before how bad the experience could turn...

> First of all the price of the dinner/cruise ticket was outrageous (10.800 HUF which makes around 42 EUR) It could have guaranteed the best service but this is just a good way to trap the tourists. (1 glass of welcome champagne, 1 glass of wine, 1 bottle of mineral water where included well at least the water was really good)

>Then the organization, we had to get to the meeting point 30 minutes before departure. Which we actually made. Too bad that there were 2 different meeting points and that the crew didn't bother come and pick us up so we had to run to join the boat after waiting in a freezing cold!

> Once on the boat after a quick welcome and introduction of the meals, we got to taste the buffet. Not to complain about the Hungarian food, but maybe the cook wasn't told that we had to pay that much to be fed only with cabbage and potatoes...

> Then the brewages: not being picky but the "champagne" we had as a greeting drink wasn't champagne at all (can we even call it sparkling wine??)
The ticket included a glass of wine and a bottle of water... well fair enough... but when it came to the digestive drinks (which we really needed to forget how awful the food would taste) we weren't even warned that it warned would be charged extra... (And really expensive like around 7 EUR)

> The music, it's simply a quarto of musician that played all the way during the cruise until they came around the tables to insist for tips... We basically had to tip them so they would leave to rob from other tables....

> Last but not least : the purpose of the cruise was see sighting from the Danube and take advantage of the incomparable point of view we could have from the river. Right? Well not only the boat would only circle round on a 500 meters circle, but after 20 min the windows were covered with steam so we couldn't see anything!

Actually we were feeling relieved when the boat reached the platform back, there were no greetings from the crew when we went out maybe because they knew we would be thankful in return.... We just ran and went for a drink just to get the feeling we didn't waste our last night in that beautiful city.

“Great romantic way even if a bit too short”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

Went yesterday to the dinner and cruise on the Danube.
The whole experience is a bit short,90 minutes in total. Still the buffet is quite nice, waiters and crew are very polite and the music is fine. Musicians were good although they seemed to be playing at full speed which was a but funny.
But again, the food was quite nice. Cost was reasonable, I paid 10,800 florins, which is something like US 50. That included the food, a glass of sparkling wine and a glass of red. Also included was a bottle of mineral water.
Frankly I liked it. It was romantic, the views at night were amazing and I would certainly do it again.
The only criticism is that the tour is quite short, only 90 minutes, and the ship at times goes quite quickly, so picture taking becomes a bit difficult.
