I stayed at the Astoria after the Danubius hotel I had booked did not have a room for me. After a big day travelling I was not well pleased but it turned out to be a blessing because the Astoria is a classic old style hotel brilliantly located in the center of Budapest. The staff were very understanding of my frustrations & made my stay a very pleasant one. The only complaint I had was they were fully booked & I could not stay longer. Although the hotel is old world the amenities & rooms were very nice & inviting. A very nice stay.

Beautiful hotel, reception staff and housekeeping were lovely, all spoke English to an extent. Exceptionally clean, breakfast was lovely. A very large choice of foods. Only drawback was the hotel bar closes at 11pm every night :( but there are lots of lovely little bars across the rd (which are lots cheaper too) and the restaurant and bar staff were not as nice, bit sour really. City is wonderful though, very romantic

We stayed here for 4 nights, the hotel is lovely old building and right in the centre of things, within easy walking distance of all the shops. Even in the blistering heat which we enjoyed. The room was good , on the 2nd floor and was a good size. The breakfast was wonderful, a great selection of everything, This was included in our trip. We had a cocktail each night in the restaurant, even though we had not eaten there. There is a lovely place to sit on an inside balcony, and we were treated to a trio one night playing lovely music. It's a great place too stay and all the staff were friendly and very helpful. There is only 1 downside, that is I wish there had been tea making facilities in the room.

Room Tip: Choose a deluxe room if you can afford the extra, the decor is a little bit better.

Hotel located right next to Metro/Bus stop and a 15 min walk to the Danube. Interior is classic, if a bit dated. Rooms have a decent space and aircon, but the beds are pretty hard. Stay away from the breakfest as it is pretty mediocre and expensive compared to the options you have right outside the door step. Did not try the restaurant.

Dear Panzer 76,

Thank you for your feedback on our Danubius Hotel Astoria.

You have chosen the right place to explore our beautiful capital with your friends. There are plenty of ruin pubs and small restaurants around us, and it is easy to find bars to relax during the day and the evening.
Our breakfast choice includes fresh and healthy salads and hungarian specialities of the original hungarian cuisine. Most of our guests start their day with the tastes of Hungary in the Astoria Café and we have lot of appreciation from our clients.
I hope next time you give us the opportunity to show the improvements we made.

we got upgraded room, since it was our honeymoon.
the room was wide, clean and comfortable.
the staff was friendly and very helpful.
the location is close to everything.
we were very happy choosing that hotel.
the price of the rooms is reasonable.

things to improve:
the a/c was a bit weak.
the hotel breakfast is too expensive, especially for Budapest prices, so we booked a room without breakfast.
it could be nice to have a kettle in the room..

Room Tip: upper floors. the rooms that has balcony and view to the street are more noisy (when to balcony do...

Dear DANA2276,

Thank you for leaving such a lovely review for Tripadvisor readers.
I am glad to have your positive feedback on the room, the location of the hotel, the competitive room prices and especially ont he staff. It is the most important for us to show our friendliness towards our guests.
It was extremely hot in Budapest at the end of July, the technical staff and the receptionist can set the required strengh of the A/C.
The most important is that you were very happy with us and we hope next time you chose us again.

This hotel is placed very conveniently in the heart of the tourist area. Metro, bus and trams are close at hand. Danubius celebrates a 100 years next year it is cause for celebrations. A lovely hotel well maintained with generous and comfortable rooms. Bathroom with bath and all facilities. Staff are helpful and we experienced no problems. Advertising suggests WIFI is free but this only applies to the lobby area downstairs. WIFI in rooms is a charge and we were advised not to use it this way. Our booking was made through a booking site and we received competitive rates.
The mirror dining room is popular with locals and serves good food, well prepared and presented. Prices are about average for this quality fare.

Room Tip: Rooms on fifth floor have balconies and could be useful if you have laundry.
