“A great river”
Review of Danube River

The Danube flows through Budapest with all the majesty of a river that features as the title of songs and music and probably stories as well.

We arrived shortly after the flood level had peaked (June 2013), and we checked on the river daily and watched the fast swirling waters slowly recede back to almost normal levels. Of course, the floods forced all the traffic off the river, until our last day, when we were able, on a balmy June evening, to take an evening river cruise and enjoy the sights of the city from a different perspective - and with all the city lights ablaze.

In order to enjoy the Danube, you really need to do a curise. We personally started our trip in the Danube from Esztergom until Budapest, it is long trip but an exceptional one. So relaxing, you can also see many monuments on the sides of the Danube while the ship is Sailing. Also consider walking along the Danube, Hungary does have a unique nature. We have been there in Summer 2009

The famous Danube River, this waterway gives something magical and poetic to this city, unique in all its glow.
It has a good view from many points of the city, a panoramic view from the castle on the hill, or a walk along the river It's a must to do, or through one of the many bridges that connect the Buda side with that of Pest.
In any case, from any location is admired this river with a touch of poetry to the city.
I highly suggest to give a look during the night with its stunning fairytale atmosphere.

What you can tell about the Danube? Not only is nice but magical.- There are a lot of companies that offers cruises by the river from a few hours to day long ones.- To see the city from the river gives you another and very interesting perspective.-

The cruise is 1 hour long. The recorded audio guide keeps on blabbering about the history and the tourist attractions on the loudspeaker and no one on the cruise even bothers to listen. Its very monotonously said. If you are going on the premise of learning something, don't be too sure of it. I would say that the experience of being on the Danube and the views are two things to really look forward to on this cruise tour.

Place of drop-off: Park, or if you want you could take the roundabout back to your destination of departure. Its up to you, but you should try out the park because they offer these really nice buggies which offer a way to see everything and its quite fun - especially for teens who want to take the wheel!
