My wife and I just returned from 3 weeks (April 30 to May 18) in Europe. Two weeks on Viking River Cruise and 1 week in Budapest. We chose to stay in the Bellevue B & B in Budapest because of the good reviews it received in Tripadvisor and it was centrally located for what we wished to see. Judit and Lajos, were excellent hosts and made us feel just like we were part of their family. At check-in Lajos gave us an excellent orientation to Budapest and how to get around the city using the city's extensive metro, bus, and tram system. Which I would highly recommend it is very easy to get to every attraction in Budapest by the transit system. We chose the 3rd floor room which gave us excellent views of the Danube River and the Parliamnet Building. Our room was bright and cheery and spacious.

Their recommendations for eating establishments were spot on. They regularly go dine at the spots they recommend to make sure they are still good.

I would certainly recommend The Bellevue B & B and Judit and Lajos to anyone planning on visiting Budapest for more than a couple of days.

Room Tip: We chose the 3rd floor room which gave us excellent views of the Danube River and the Parliamnet Bui...

We visited Budapest in early May and stayed at the B&B Bellevue. Judit was very thorough in our confirmation emails about room and transportation options even before we arrived. Like another used commented, we did opt to have the taxi fare added to our room just to relieve another worry (although it wasn't a problem to pick up Forents at the airport.) Andras, Judit's son, greeted us when we arrived and took very good care of us for the four days we stayed. We had our breakfasts out on the patio, overlooking the Danube and the Parliament. (A beautiful view!)

The B&B was a tall, skinny (but cozy) apartment. The kitchen is on the second floor, and there are only one or two rooms on each side of the staircase. This means that the plumbing might be a bit noisy in the morning, but you'll want to be up around 8:30am for breakfast anyways. The best rooms are on the Danube side. We switched to the family suite on the road side for the last night, and that was fine too.

The B&B is just below the castle district, so it's just a quick skip out the door and up the hill to some of the more popular places. The palace, church, and Fisherman's Bastion are all lit up in the evening, so it was really beautiful and so close to take a nice night stroll. The nearest subway is just a 10-minute down the hill. We got 3-day metro passes and became experts at the quirky old subway system right away.

With Andras' excellent recommendations, we enjoyed great local dishes and discovered awesome spots for a drink on both the Buda and Pest sides. (Don't miss the pancakes/crepes at the place across from the subway station!) English was no problem in Budapest--everywhere we went, people spoke some English and were very friendly and willing to help us.

We were lucky to find such a pleasant place to stay with such kind hosts. It's a small B&B with just a handful of rooms, so don't wait if you're interested or you'll lose you're spot at the breakfast table. :)

This B & B establishment is situated in one of the most charming areas of Buda. Judit, Lajos and Andras showed exemplary concern for our comfort and went th extra mile in ensuring our security and helping us to navigate the city and negotiate taxi fares and so forth. They were also a mine of information about the country's history and culture and seemed to be only too willing to share it with us . This was a real bonus for us linguistically-challenged anglo-saxons because there mastery of English is fluent and faultless.

Room Tip: Ask for the highest available because the views get better with altitude.

This B&B is in a peaceful location. We were here in Spring, and the birds woke me up in the morning, as I left the window open. There is little traffic on the street. Our room was comfortable, well cared for, and clean. The beds were good, and the shower worked. Internet was good in the breakfast area, but could have been better in our room -- it was improved with the door open.
Andras, the son, was accommodating and helpful, providing us with early breakfast on our day of departure.

It is a short walk up to the castle, and the evening walk is invigorating and peaceful -- without the chaos of daytime bus tours and vendors. The lighting of buildings and memorials is excellent.

We stayed here for three days, and would return in an instant. This place is good value.

We stayed at the Bellevue for 5 nights and were sorry to leave. Judit and Lajos looked after us as if we were family. They even set out breakfast for us when we had an early flight. The room was sparkling clean, the beds were good, the breakfast was plentiful and the location was safe, the B & B was close to the Metro stop and Budapest was beautiful. What more could any of us ask for in a B & B ? We would stay again at this 6 star accomodation. Thanks again for all your help and concern Judit and Lajos. Dr. O

What a great spot. The B&B is located in a quiet area below Fisherman's Bastion , a few steps from #16 bus stop. We would walk down to the Danube in the morning where we had a choice of tram bus or metro and were on our way. Coming home all we had to do is take the old # 16 bus and we were there. We did not book early enough so had to forgo the fantastic view but our deck still looked out at the Bastion through the trees. The view from the deck attached to the breakfast area was unbelievable Our host had a unbelievable knowledge of Budapest and all sorts of hints on where to go and how to get there. There first advice was buy a bus pass and use it. This was the most valuable advice as it saved us lots and we went places we would not have gone otherwise. Our room was very large and spotless and made you feel like returning.. The breakfast full of talk with other guests was a highlight.

Room Tip: one looking over the Danube if possible if not any will do

We are regular visitors to the Bellevue and can't praise it highly enough. Just back from our last visit (April 2012). As ever Judit and Lajos looked after us very well. We were very well fed at breakfast and there is always plenty of tea and coffee on the go. Also you can always ask about anything from convenient buses to the latest developments in Hungarian politics. We particularly enjoy the lively folk music scene at the Fono club in Kelenfold and staying at the Bellevue makes this very accessible - just take the direct tram from Batthany Ter.The Bellevue has become our home from home in Hungary and we hope to return soon. You must stay here.
