It's hard to enthuse enough about this B&B. Its location, just below the Fishermans' Bastion and close to great cafes, restaurants and the Danube, is perfect for exploring Buda. Judit and Lajos were generous, amazingly helpful and very kind to our 16 month old son. Coffee, tea, fruit, milk and so on were available 24 hours a day. Our room was huge, spotless and very comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. The second part of our stay in Budapest was at Judit and Lajos' son's apartment in Pest (also a perfect place) - Lajos generously drove us over in his car. Fantastic!

Rick Steves was right- B&B Bellevue was the perfect way to start our adventure in Hungary. Judit and Lajos were incredibly gracious and helpful, from recovering our lost luggage to suggestions for dining and transportation- even making train reservations for us and packing a great breakfast for an early outing to Eger. We also enjoyed speaking at length with son Andras about life in Hungary and Canada. And what a great location! A beautiful view of the Parliament, and just steps away from the Castle. We could not have made a better choice.

Room Tip: ask for the view of Parliament

LOCATION - perfect - on the hill just steps below the old town of buda, with a spectacular (some rooms) view of the capitol building and pest, a short walk from batyani square with restaurants, a super market, and metro, HV rail, trams, and buses.
ROOMS - spotless, amenities, homey-comfortable, attractive. request one of these.
VALUE - very good in an expensive city.
SERVICE - unbelievable, you will wish your parents had treated you like this. All help from friendly, caring, sophisticated international fluent english-speaking hosts with intimate knowledge of the cultural and historic aspects of this complicated and multifaceted city. Airport and train station transport arranged. help with entertainment options, advice about sites and excursions, restarants, all of budapest.
BREAKFAST - delicious and varied, and available at convenient hours - served in a comfortable and family atmosphere.
Better than a "home away from home" - because better than home !! i have stayed here year after year and would never even think of staying anywhere else.

Room Tip: ask about the view rooms. different room sizes, locations offer budget-fitting options

Our hosts, Lajos and Judit Szuhay, made the visit special. Their accommodations were comfortable with a fantastic view from Buda across the Danube to Pest and the Parliament Building. Their B&B was nicely located near transportation and places to eat. They provided a varied and delicious breakfast, adding something different each day. The room was cleaned each day, and having an on-suite bathroom with plenty of hot water was important to us. We were able to use WiFi, with few exceptions. When we brought to their attention that we were unable to access WiFi one day, they quickly remedied the problem. The best part of this experience was conversing with Judit and Lajos. They are both proud of their country and very knowledgeable, adivising us of prime locations to visiit.

My husband and I stayed here in November 2011 with our 9 month old daughter. We had a great trip to Budapest due largely to the fact that we stayed at B&B Bellevue. We booked a last minute trip and didn't have much time to plan ahead like we usually do. We usually get a travel book (Rick Steves is our book of choice) months in advance and try to read up on hotels and sites, but this time we didn't have a book. Instead we checked up on tripadvisor and found and booked this B&B based on the positive reviews here. We were able to borrow a RS book from the B&B which was a great help once we arrived.
The location is great if you don't mind a few stairs as it is located close to the top of the hill directly below the Fisherman Bastian in Buda. There is a bus that cuts out a lot of those stairs, but we usually took the metro and climbed the stairs for more exercise. The B&B is also a townhouse style apartment, so there are stairs inside as well. We had a lovely room with a balcony that looked up towards Castle Hill.
The breakfast food was typical European continental breakfast, but they looked out for any special needs we had. For example, they provided a high chair for the baby and when we mentioned we fed the baby plain yogurt (no sugar) they had some for us the next morning. We enjoyed speaking with Judit in the morning breakfast time and she also gave great advice on where to go on our visit.
I highly recommend this B&B! It deserves it's good rating.

My husband and I spent five days in Budapest in early November staying at this wonderful B&B. All the excellent reviews about it on this website are absolutely true. We had a lovely large room on the first floor with a small balcony and very comfortable areas for sitting for sitting and sleeping. The breakfasts were excellent, truly first class. The Bellevue B&B is on a small residential street with virtually no noise and within easy walking distance of Budapest’s wonderful and easy to use transportation system. Near by are restaurants, pubs, shops, and a major shopping area for all needs. The B&B is not far from and has a beautiful view from the street of the Castle area. This was our first trip to Budapest. It is a wonderful city with a great deal to admire and to enjoy but we did not know our way around the city at all when we arrived and we do not speak Hungarian. Judit and her husband Lajos were not only kind; they were extraordinarily helpful in every way. Judith spent hours helping us plan our days and itineraries, including how to get around the city from one place to another. When we told her we were interested in attending a performance of the Verdi Requiem we had seen advertised she went out of her way to help us get the tickets. And, she told us about other concerts and events that might interest us. We did not have a European cell phone and Judit filled in that gap. She made calls for us to get any information we needed. She was exceptionally generous with her time and did everything she could to help us enjoy our visit, including making sure we got reputable taxis to and from the B&B. She even packed a lunch for us to eat on our train to Prague. We hope to return to Budapest and certainly want to return to the Bellevue B&B. And, it will be a joy to see Judit and Lajos again

Room Tip: We really enjoyed our room. It was one level up from the entry and across from the kitchen. It was...

Have just returned from Bellevue b and B. We chose it after reading the reviews. My friend and I had a lovely large room with twin beds and a large settee to relax on. The room was very clean and we made use of the kitchen opposite to make tea.
Judit and her husband were so helpful and friendly and made us feel at home. It was lovely to sit around the breakfast table with 3 couples from Sweden and to share our plans for the day each morning. The view of the parliament buildings from the kitchen were something I wont forget especially when illuminated at night.
Judit allowed us to keep our room until we left for the airport late afternoon which was very useful. After breakfast she even suggested we make sandwiches with meat she had available.
Since returning home I have decided I would love to return again and will certainly return to Bellevue. A lovely location in a beautiful city at very reasonable price with superb hosts.

Room Tip: if you want a large room with separate seating area ask for the room opposite the kitchen. has a lar...
