Top location, lovely staff and the rooms have been very clean and spacious. Would definetly return whenever i'll be back in budapest. the concierge was helpful and he gave us great advises. The breakfast could have been better but it was ok. The breakfast staff seemed to be always very busy.

Just returned from this hotel would highly recommend. We had a fabulous suite the front of hotel with balcony. Room was large very clean and extremely comfortable. Staff were attentive friendly and very welcoming they really couldn't do enough for us to make our stay enjoyable. It's position for sight seeing was excellent easy access to all transport and within easy walking distance of all tourist attractions. Breakfast was to die for can't recommend enough. Well done to all the staff and management. If you go the spa is a must

Me and my fiancée have stayed for 3 nights in the Corinthia hotel in Budapeste and it was just wonderful! It is a fantastic 5-star hotel, with everything that a 5-star should have: impecable service, very spacious room and plenty of luxury everywhere you go. There is a spa in there, where you can swim or just relax on the jacuzzi. There is also massages and beauty treatment if you like. The location is very convenient, next to a tram station and to the metro. You can also reach some of the Budapest touristic sights, like the Opera, just with a little walk from the hotel. Nearby there is also lots of restaurants, with the best of the hungarian food. However, I must say that it's really a spicy one. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely recomend it.

I travelled to Budapest with my friend recently and we spent 3 nights at the Corinthia, using it as a base to explore this fabulous city, and we were immensely impressed!

From the moment we stepped out of the taxi and the doorman took our bags to check in, we felt like we were truly being spoilt and looked after. The concierge booked us into a restaurant we'd had recommended and we went up to our room already impressed!

The room we had faced the atrium and was decorated in a really classy way, and the beds were extremely comfortable.

From the hotel it was a short walk to Oktogon metro stop, or a short walk to the main attractions- perfectly located for a weekend of sightseeing!

We didn't have breakfast so I can't comment on that, but we did use the spa on the last day which was beautiful, really relaxing and immaculately clean.

Also on the last day, we wanted to visit the Memento Park, but didn't have time to go by public transport so the concierge arranged a private car to take us, wait for us and bring us back...obviously for a price but this was really very reasonable!

All in all if you're looking for some luxury in Budapest for a decent price, this is the hotel for you! I would definitely stay here again!

I cannot say enough good things about this elegant palace of a hotel, completely modernized and comfortable, although we couldn't make our smart phones work despite the free wi-fi. We used the computers in the business area. The reception area/lobby was so grand, parlor after parlor. The spectacular dining room with the immensely high glass ceiling was as awesome as the pictures in their website. Even the elevators were photo-worthy. We did not choose to upgrade to the concierge level, so we paid for our breakfast and had snacks elsewhere while sightseeing. We didn't feel slighted in the least. We had a quiet room looking out into a sort of atrium. The bed was ever so comfortable and the linens were beautiful. Best of all was the spacious marble bathroom. Lots of space to spread out. Also a soaking tub and a separate glass walled shower. This is noteworthy because so many European showers have a partial wall and the water spills all over the floor. It is also a green hotel and you can opt to reuse your towels and save energy. My only regret was that they didn't provide washcloths or conditioner.

The neighborhood around the Corinthia is shabby, however. Much of the city needs repair to the lovely facades of their buildings and some buildings are falling apart. You will see vagrants sleeping in doorways but then the next block or so will be filled with chic restaurants. It doesn't appear to be a dangerous area, and people are walking around after dinner or a night out. There is even a Starbucks on the corner, but the Corinthia is certainly the only upscale building around.

The most amazing thing about this five-star hotel is the modest price. Although we took cabs to get to the Parliament Bldg, the museum and palace, the wonderful sights on the Buda side of town, you could walk to the opera.

Room Tip: You probably don't want a room facing the street, as there are a lot of streetcars passing by.

The hotel was recommend by a friend of ours, one of the best hotels we have stayed in.
The staff on the reception desk were friendly and spoke excellent english.
Our room was very comfortable and elegant. The hotel was very clean and well looked after, all of the staff down to the maids were very helpful and went out of the way to assist.
Breakfast was excellent plent of choice along with excellent service.

Budapest is a beautiful city, people are very friendly. My friend and i got lost during our tour of the city but felt very safe, when asked for directions people were very helpful.
Eating and drinking out was very reasonable.

My wife and I spent two nights in early April at the Corinthia; it was a pre-cruise stay. The hotel was fantastic; from the building itself to the service provided, it was first class. The staff couldn't have been nicer and the location was perfect. Our room was on the third floor and it overlooked the hotel courtyard restaurant. This may have been the one shortfall; a window that opened to the ouside for fresh air would have been nice. The room temperature was just a little too warm, and the interior window didn't help that much. The size of the room was great with a spacious bathroom. The bed was wonderful; very confortable. There is a nightclub off the lobby which offered live entertainment. We were within a few blocks of two stops on the "hop on - hop off" bus system. It made it very easy to move around the city and se the sights. Also within two blocks was a row of very nice restaurants offering all types of cuisine. We definitely enjoyed our pre-cruise stay at the Corinthia and if in Budapest again, will stay here. There is a great little coffee and pastry shop right next to the hotel; it shares the same building. The had the best croissant that I ever ate.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a window that faces the outside of the hotel rather than the courtyard.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
