I´ve stayed at Corinthia during the last world cup. That hotel is splendid! They have a very kind staff. The room is modern, well furnished and luxury. I paid a bargain that time. About 80 euros per day. Regular price is 400. It´s a very fancy place with a good service. It´s not located in Budapest downtown, but you can take a tram in front of the hotel. There are good restaurant inside. And some around. I recommend.

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in, either on business or on leisure travel. Wifi and cabled internet access is free throughout nthe hotel. The staff couldn't do enough to help. The room represented excellent value for money and the Spa was excellent and definitley beats any other city based hotel spa facility I have used and most non city based ones hands down.
The location is great with the river being a longish stroll away for those who have the energy, a tram stop directly outside and a metro stop within 200m. You are also within easy walking distance of the Opera, pedestrianised Liszt Utca with its many restaurants & bars and St Stephen's Basilica.
Give this hotel a try, you won't be disappointed

On arrival at the hotel we were advised that we had been upgraded from the double room we had booked to a suite for the three night stay we had booked. What a lovely surprise. What was waiting for us was a lovely spacious suite, with fresh fruit and chocolates.
Everywhere in the hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were incredibly attentive. They made sure we had an umbrella with us, in case it rained, ensured our coffee cups were topped up at breakfast and left weather updates in our room when they did turn down so we knew what the forecast was for the next day.

The spa was one of the best I have visited, and the treatments were wonderful.

I would definitely recommend this hotel and we will be visiting again

We have stayed in this hotel three times over the last two years and have never had a bad experience.

It is a beautiful hotel, conveniently located to the tram and the metro, and many restaurants only two short blocks away.

The spa is fabulous at the end of a long day of walking! The spa treatments are also very good, and comparatively well priced. There are two rather good sized hot tubs, a sauna, steam room and pool.

My suggestion would be to reserve an executive level room, it costs a little more but is well worth it. With this you get access to the executive level lounge with breakfast, snacks and drinks all day. You also have the use of the executive level concierge along with the computers and TV lounge. A big plus is that the executive room also allows you access to the hotel breakfast buffet downstairs in the main restaurant. This buffet is huge, almost no need for lunch after eating here!

Also, we usually request a boulevard facing room with a balcony for our stays and it is quite nice. The atrium facing rooms are also very nice, and may be a little larger than the boulevard rooms.

Friedns of ours have stayed at other hotels in Budapest, and we have visited during our stays, and the Corinthia beats them hands down!

Room Tip: Reserve an executive level room, great value!

Location is perfect if you like to stay in the centre of the city close to Andrassi Avenue. Very nice hall and rooms - we prefer facing the atrium rather than the street since it is more quiet. Nice little pool in the spa area. Well worth the price - a little of a bargain actually.

we were lucky enough to get an upgrade and the business mezzanine with continuous snacks and drinks was a true luxury.
the room however was a slight let-down: very dark and didnt live up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.
Asian restaurant in the hotel was wonderful and so was the brasserie (although in the evening it was always packed solid)
Spa was excellent

Just spent a 7 fabulous days with my wife at the Corinthia Royal Budapest , and all we can say is that the whole experience was just perfect . You were treated like royalty from the first moments you walk into the impressive foyer until the very last second to bid your farewells to the staff. We stayed in an executive suite overlooking Erzsebet boulevard which was very impressive due to its generous size and high quality features and finishings throughout the suite. The executive lounge was an added treat and equally impressive , with excellent service , snacks and drinks throughout the day. My wife and I
also found the executive lounge the perfect place to enjoy that drink and relax before heading off to dinner. After a day of sightseeing , visiting the numerous attractions or just wandering the lovely streets of Budapest , what better way to pamper your tired bones is a few hours at the world renowned Corinthia spa. The place is just perfect to completely relax , especially in the jacuzzi , pool or indulging in one of the many massages. The overall service each and every all member of the staff was truly five star , and both my wife and I were overwhelmed with the detail and professionalism in their work. Just wished we could have stayed much longer , as life as a king and queen is quite enjoyable and hard to resist.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
