“Maybe not?”
Reviewed April 17, 2014

We stayed for 4 nights, 20 of us. Basic amenities was provided. No hairdryer, no kettle for boiling water, limited body shampoo supply. The only thing was supplied was one towel each and a fridge in the room. Some rooms are very small, with little space between beds. The bed sheets and pillow case was dusty, basically the whole room was dusty! Locks on the toilet door was spoiled. The hotel was situated far from the City Centre. You'd have to take the Metro (Subway) which is quite a walking distant away. Basic breakfast was provided, same everyday. (Bread, ham, cereals, and yogurt) Restaurant and shops were far away, though there is a Chinese restaurant downstairs.

Booked this hotel in January 2014 as I was traveling to visit European Figure Skating Championship. The hotel is located 7 mins away from metro and 10 mins from tram.
Everything's old and rusty, but the hotel is pretty cheap and ideal for budget travelers. I was always out of the hotel, because the city itself is stunning.
Fortuna offers breakfasts which are decent and laundry service.
It's located in a backyard and very often it is hard to find it, but if you follow the signs you won't have any problem.

Hotel is situated too far from the centre, the nearest metro station is almost 1km away. Strange parking policy as you may leave your car only after 7pm, before that time you need to look for a place on the street which is not too easy. Very poor breakfast, any hot food. Also , I spend there two nights and my room wasn`t cleant during this time.
Good point are very nice and informative staff doing their best to help visitors and really low price, the hotel was one of the chaepest I found.

The hotel is small, the single room was clean, though basic. The wifi is a bit slow on times, but it worked. The staff was extremely friendly, as I had to leave before breakfast time, they proposed to make me a sandwich.
The single bed is a bit narrow...
The metro station is near.

1) your pillow had been changed form previous guests and hadn't evidence of their hair;
2) the moquette had no terribile stains as if some coca-cola were generously poured on it some months ago and never cleaned;
3) bed sheets weren't hosting small particles similar to sugar (at least that's what I hope it was);
4) the shower had a tent to avoid the toilette to become flooded each time one washes him/herself;
5) the furniture were not coming from a deposit of the old hungarian/soviet army
6) the free wifi declamed on the book form was available not only in an area of 5mt from the reception. Rooms were out if coverage.

Based on Booking rate (7) we reserved and paid in advance for 2 nights in different days (not consecutive).The hotel entrance is some how on the back side to the street near a chicken restaurant from another hotel with a lot of garbage and oil arround. The hotel is on top floor, just under the roof, so you have to use the existing old elevator. Our room was very dirty with old style furnish, poorly lighted. We saw pretty clear that somebody had taken a nap after the traces on bedding.
When we turned back for the second night we had the big surprise to hear that they could not provide the payed room and they could not give us the money back. They didn't told us about the room problem in advance but they decided to made a reservation on our names to another "hotel", ugly like Fortuna and 1 star less. (in house business I supose) We heared these "good" news after 900 km driving with a sleepy child at 10 pm. We didn't accepted and at that late hour we start looking for another hotel by car and found one with free rooms 10 km far away (Holiday Inn wich is a very good hotel) At that moment I received a call from Fortuna Hotel receptionist telling me to return because now he can give as a room. Of course we didn't returned.
What to think and believe about this hotel?
Think twice before choosing this "hotel".

If you are on a very low budget and intend to spend 2-3 nights in Budaptest, Fortuna is a good choice - I just don't thing one could resist staying there longer :).

The hotel is on top floor, just under the roof. I was there in the June, more then 30 degrees outside and the heat was terrible. It's an old hotel, probably renovated some 20 years ago - it looks like there is no maintenance and the personnel responsible for cleaning has no reference about how clean towels or bathroom should look like.

Though the front desk people are nice, polite and helpful.

The biggest advantage of this hotel is its proximity to M3 subway - in 20 minutes you are in the down-town and max. 1 hour at the airport.
