We selected Rudas Spa due to its historical significance. This particular spa located on the banks of the Danube River is one of the oldest (450 yrs old) in the city, built during the Turkish occupation. We had hoped to schedule a massage as well as a soak, but the massage times were all booked up for the weekend. (If you know you’re plans for visiting Budapest, schedule any such special treatments well in advance.) Nevertheless, we enjoyed a relaxing soak in the warm mineral waters of the octagonal bath. Partaking of the waters was a great way to experience Budapest.

Really great experience, lots of choices/payment options but watch for certain times when different areas are open. We fully immersed ourselves in the experience, we are a group of 6, 3 couples. There are instructions to follow for the cold and hot pools, you feel totally invigorated after going from one to the other. The outdoor roof spa was disappointing, bit of a walk from the door, it was January and freezing ! and the water was not particularly warm, but great views of the city. The changing rooms were organised and you could lock you belongings away and are given a wrist band, we didn't have any issues with staff or security. It was quiet when we went, around mid morning on a Friday. We walked from the chain bridge and went past the horn that you can blow/shout through :) and the war memorial, which was fantastic. The actual baths shown in the photo were swimming lanes when we visited, at night they would be much more atmospheric. We took our own towels and left them in the changing rooms, you do not need them as you walk around and use the various rooms.

Great place to visit. Unlike the other two most popular bath houses (Széchenyi and the Gellert) very modern and clean. Super friendly and nice staff. Maybe it’s not the biggest bath house in Budapest but definetely the best in my opinion. The outdoor pool is small but the views are just amazing especially in the evening. The saunas and steam rooms simply amazing. When you walk into a steam or sauna all you can smell is a nice citric scent. Less touristic than the others bathhouses. Really worth visiting.

My partner and I *just* got home from an amazing hour long spoil-session at Rudas. We only did the massage, so I can't speak to the rest of the place, despite being a little skeptical after reading other reviews--and we're so so glad we did! The masseuses were thorough and professional (trained in physiotherapy at a medical school here in Hungary) and took the needs of our bodies into consideration, and to top it all off, were incredibly generous with their time! We arrived at Rudas a few minutes after our reservation (I highly recommend making one--we tried to go yesterday but chose to postpone in the face of a four hour wait) and after some confusion only got into our room half an hour into an hour long booking. Despite this, they treated us the full time.

Can't recommend this place enough, I'll definitely be coming back.

This is one of the original baths in Budapest. From the ottoman occupation in their country. We all know the Turks have a thing for water therapy. I went here twice during my 10 nights in the city. A small perk from the other baths you get an actual cabin here. Not just a locker. So you can change in privacy at no extra cost if you care about being seen naked. I don’t mind either way. Obviously you have more storage space as well with a locker. In February with a warm puffy coat makes a nice difference. The staff here I really appreciated! The spa attendants were super sweet! Always picking up. The amenities of steam or sauna aren’t as many as some the other baths. The water is very therapeutic which to me is what you’d go for. I didn’t go to the pool on the roof. I went late in the day after touring all day. To unwind and treat my feet after walking hours on them. I personally liked the water here then the most famous bathhouse in the city. Just my opinion. I seen a few people here that I seen at another bath. Then some I seen there the week before when I went. They were local. If you want more a traditional bath then just to say you went someplace come here! They also offer massage and hammam services which I didn’t try due to me arriving late at night. Highly recommended
