We went to the baths with high expectations. Booked from the hotel a massage, which was about the only good part of the experience, so it would have been best to go get a massage and that's it. It is pretty amazing that the water comes so warm naturally, but for the most it is too warm, a bit smelly and there's a bunch of people sitting in the pools. We didn't like it at all it was not our type of activity, we payed for the entire afternoon and ended up staying for an hour at the most. Many people like the, though so I guess it depends on the type of activities that you like to do

My friend and I visited Budapest in April 2013. After four days sight seeing we treat ourself to relaxing evening at Gellert Baths. Money well spent and prices much lower then in the UK's spas. Additional treatments such as full body massage for only £15.00! Many pools to choose from with different water temperature. Very relaxing and quiet place with original kept architecture- no plastic accessories, modern features, health and safety signs, equipment, posters....you get an impression moving back in time. So nice, warm and cosy you can have a short nap on a lounger....I had.

I would suggest to take own towels and swim hat ( many ladies use those from your bathroom hotel shower) as prices for those are sky high.

I had a wonderful few hours exploring indoor & outdoor pools and indoor and outdoor thermal baths. I managed to time outdoor pool to wave and what a blast, belly surfing. Bring own cap and flip flops, but can hire towel for large deposit but get most back, so really costs 700 florints (approx £2.00). I found layout a bit confusing and tried to explain to a couple that he was in female changing areas, so if shy hire room, otherwise you're in open area, but supposedly only for females or males!

Excellent excellent place - we visited twice in 5 days!
Set in the Gellert luxury hotel and at the base of Gellert Hill.
It boasts a number of indoor and outdoor heated pools, wave pools, saunas, steam rooms and other mud/spa treatments (you pay extra for treatments).
Works out around £15/person, but worth it.
One of the indoor pools were 40degrees! ... lovely!

Don't know what we thought we were going to see but didn't realise this was a swimming pool with some extras. It’s quite confusing just getting inside. The staff are not helpful either. There are different prices depending on what you want. We decided on the ‘spa’ (swimming pool). This gave us a choice of a few pools to use; two outside, one indoors and one part in and part outside – ladies need a swimming cap for this one. Like everything else caps can be bought. Towels can be bought or hired. The locker or cabin system is confusing and staff look at you wondering around and don’t help only if approached and then they are abrupt. Lockers are open changing rooms upstairs. Men are one side and women the other side but this is confusing and men wonder through the women’s side. No privacy. Cabins (cubicle) are on the ground floor and are hired for the day but you then have your own private cubicle. Obviously you pay more for this. There are many options on the site including beauty treatments and therapeutic spas but these all have their own price. We’re not sure that this is really a thermal spa, water seemed to be pumped in and heated, not natural? We are sorry we didn’t try Széchenyi spa.
