“Over priced for what it is”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

The Internet is an enormous 10 Euros per hour or 20 Euros per day. When you're paying around 170 Euros per night this is ridiculous. It's a pretty standard chain hotel without many facilities and everything is expensive. Only plus points are the location and the cleanliness.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for describing your experience about your recent stay.

I was very concerned to learn that you were dissatisfied with the rates of the internet let me apologies for the disappointment and inconvenience caused on this occasion.

Currently the standard for a Hilton hotel is to provide free internet access in the Executive Lounge. We are frequently adjusting and aligning our standards to meet the needs and requirements of our guests. We do currently give internet free of charge in the room for Gold and Diamond members of the HHonors program and we offer free internet in our lobby and Zita Cafe & Kando Bar 24/7 for all guests. However, we are still consistently evaluating our approach how to make in Room WI-FI charges more beneficial for all our guests and we do hope to find a solution soon.

We hope that in spite of this disappointing experience we may still count you among our valued guests and we will have the chance to welcoming you to the Hilton Budapest WestEnd.

Kind regards,

Stayed here for 2 nights for business reasons, which included a conference hosted by the Hilton. I especially appreciated the gym, which isn't the biggest I've seen, but it is very complete and full of good equipment.

The hotel is connected to a shopping mall. Not a plus for me, but I can image it appeals to many others. Unfortunately I did not see much of the city, so cannot judge whether the hotel is located in a good spot.

Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay in Budapest.

On 6 city tour with family. The hotel is located next to the main railroad station in the West End of Pest. Personally, I thought it was a little out of the way from downtown, but that really is a non-issue. The rooms (2 of them) were clean and comfortable. The bathroom was immaculate and easily the best of the 6 Hotels we stayed at. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The breakfast buffet was very enjoyable also.

I stayed for 4 nights for business. The location is close to public transportation (train station, subway and tram), and it is adjacent to the West End mall. For business travelers, the rooms are outstanding. Wifi is strong (with optional ethernet, cable provided), numerous lighting choices (with several on dimmers), large desk, comfortable desk chair, and a very comfortable sitting chair. The shower is outstanding with plenty of pressure and easy temperature control. The minifridge has an "if you remove it you pay for it" issue, but it also has a section reserved for personal items (the Spar grocery is in the lower level of the mall, so only a short walk, all indoors). The breakfast has a decent selection (excellent orange juice!), and good coffee. The reception was very responsive in arranging taxis and bookings. The lobby restaurant works, though the menu is limited. After a long working day, it's tough to get out to a long dinner, so the lobby restaurant suffices and doesn't take a long time. Beer and wine selection is good there.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your detailed and honest review on Tripadvisor. I am pleased that all amenities of the hotel you have found very convenient for your business trip and had the opportunity to visit Budapest's largest shopping mall just next door. I was glad to read that you were satisfied with your meal in our lobby Zita Café, let me also recommend you to try next time our a' la cart restaurant, Arrabona on the M level, with a wide choice of international and Hungarian specialties for dinner. I do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you once again in the near future, perhaps on leisure.

Kind regards,

On a recent tour of Eastern Europe the Hiton Hotel -West End was the best hotel in which we stayed. Clean comfortable rooms in a very convenient location and attached to the West End mall. The staff was friendly, spoke english and was helpful with directions, maps and recommendations. They even had washclothes at this hotel, an item missing from all the other hotels in which we stayed. I would rate this property higher with the exception of one missing feature, no free room Wi-Fi. While available in the lobby for free, it was an add-on charge if used in the room. Every other hotel on the tour had free room Wi-FI. While I see from prior comments that it is currently Hilton policy to charge for Wi-FI if used in the room, the absence of this amenity had several fellow travelers in our group irritated. Otherwise, as a great property.

We stayed here as part of a tour group, but arrived three days ahead of the group to do some sightseeing on our own. The hotel is not easy to get to from the airport but it is doable using public transportation. After 15 hours of travel, we opted to use an airport shuttle service which I had booked online prior to our arrival. Once at the hotel, it is very convenient to the rail station, bus station and metro lines. The hotel is very nice, with comfortable beds a good size bathroom and the HVAC system worked well. The rooms were quiet and the TV had several English-speaking channels. Unlike many European hotels, the elevators here were spacious and there were enough to keep wait times to a minimum. The front desk staff were very friendly and they were very helpful with directions and sites we should or should not bother to visit. As is typical with the higher priced hotels WiFi is not free in the rooms — but it is in the lobby — and breakfast is not included. The hotel is attached to a large shopping mall and there are plenty of food options there. It is also within walking distance of several nice restaurants.
