“A true cultural experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2013

How could we be in Budapest and not experience the famous thermal baths? There are several in Budapest, but we chose the 'people's' bath, the Szechenyi Baths and Pools. Another bath is popular with tourists, but it's more of a tourists/spa experience. We are not sorry that we chose Szechneyi. There are 3 large pools in the open air - for swimming, soaking and having fun. We chose the soaking, where people play chess while sitting in the pool, friends gather and talk and where we got to participate in what we felt was a true Hungarian experience.
The Baths are a wedding cake architecturally, beautiful to view and a perfect backdrop to the mass of humanity of all sizes that swim and relax within. There are also many rooms inside of varying heat with hot and cold dipping pools. Word of caution to those who need a totally sterile environment - this isn't it! But don't let that deter you from this adventure.

“One of the must do's whilst you are in Budapest”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2013

One for the whole family should you choose, the baths here are amazing. The waters pure, the environment comforting and the choices of cold and hot pools you have access to you ridiculous. Do bring your own big towel, or buy one of the souvenir orange ones.

Again, a must do

“Wow - beats Gellert”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2013 via mobile

One of the places in Budapest that made me go 'wow'. Sitting in the outside pool in freezing outside temperature was quite magical. Very well organised and run spa. A lot of choice of saunas/steam rooms. Great looking place. Mustn't be missed, and avoid Gellert, the tourist trap in need of renovation.

“Lovely experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2013 via mobile

Slightly intimidated before actually going to the baths but once there and familiar with the routine thoroughly enjoyed it. As others have said being in warm (really quite warm) water on a freezing day was such a novelty. Had to dare each other to get out. Will def go back when we visit again. Very helpful staff.

“Great experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2013 via mobile

We spent 3 hours here, which was more than enough time. There are many pools to chose from, both inside and out. We felt that the pools could have been better signed, so that we understood what each pool was for. The outdoor pools were an incredible experience in the freezing cold weather. Cold faces but warm underwater - 38oC!!! We'd definitely recommend this as a day out!!!
