Lets get this one out of the way.... They don't do tourists or English. :-)

But as long as you are feeling a little adventurous & happy to go with the flow, this place is amazing for water lovers.

To get in is confusing... buying a ticket is very strange & it seems to be run a bit like a state institute... there is no friendly welcome, and yet all this is said positively.... if you want to see somewhere amazing, old, GENUINE and not touristy, this place is ideal.

We got there at about midday and stayed for 9 hours!

There are two HUGE outdoor pools, one 40 degrees & one 50 degrees! full bar! so cocktails near the pool (in the pool if you hide from the local lifeguard ;-) and then indoors there are a plethora of other pools, both hot & cold of different ranges, some sulphur pools (smelly but good for you!) and VERY popular with the locals, so be ready to share!

Well worth a look for all you adventurous types. We wouldn't have changed a thing!

After a couple days of sightseeng in Budapest, we decided to spend a couple of hours at this huge thermal spa. There are so many pools with different temperatures. There is also a big outdoor one that we did not try. We had a relaxing massage which did not impress me much. I was expecting a very good one bit for the price of US 50.00 i guess I cannot really complain. The building itself is an attraction. It is one of the oldest spa in Europe. well worth a visit. around the building there are numrous vendors selling embroidered linens etc. Did not check prices but their handicraft were pretty good.

Szechenyi is a favourite for old and young alike..It is probably the largest of the spa baths and there are many here in Budapest..
It is an easy ride on the metro from the town centre..10 minutes and you are there..It is in th midst of a wonderful park .Close to the two great museums . Within site of Hero Square and if you fance the walk it is a delightful stroll along Andrassi Street...In the summer with outdoor coffee houses and in the winter mulled wine .

December will see your walk enhanced by the avenue of tress glittering with white lights..A christmas delight..Truly magical as is all of the city..
You will pass the Opera house too..
I am a resident from the UK.What more can I say..Visit and enjoy..

I am a Budapest born Budapest citizen and I go to Szechenyi Spa a few times each year. It never gets boring and I definitely recommend to go here if you get the chance. Even when a friend of mine visits Budapest for 2-3 days I recommend this as one of the things not to miss out on.

I am someone who loves and craves summer heat, and this is a place where I can partially get it at any time of the year. For your visit to Széchényi Spa you should set aside at least 2-3 hours, although 4-5 might be better. Take into account the closing times of the indoors part. If you stay hours, to pay attention to cooling down from time to time, especially when spending a long time in the warmer outdoors pool. It is best to go during winter time, it is especially lovely when it snows - but any time of the day and year will do.

The building is beautiful and traditional. The only thing I don't like is the sauna itself - while it is traditional, I prefer a more modern version. There is a great number of pools inside so it is adventurous and interesting, as well as a great place for conversations and as you might have the chance to see - even playing chess! (Bring your own waterproof set if you want to play.) Have fun!

When with our 4.5 yr old. She loved it. So did we. Very relaxing. Easy and convenient.

Not much else to say, just go if you're in town.
