“Disappointing museum. ”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2013 via mobile

I visited the transport museum of Budapest hoping to see a lot of old cold war era relics, ie Trabants, Zill etc. I was quite disappointed. The building itself was definitely built by the soviets or at least in the soviet style. The exhibits themselves are mostly models however there are a couple of trains and a few cars and bikes, strangely including a vauxhall Astra and an Audi TT! There is an entire floor devoted to shipping which I found a bit odd in a landlocked country. There is not very much information in English and many of the exhibits just did not make sense due to this. This museum has potential but is in need of modernising. It seems to have been left behind the rest of Budapest. I would not really recommend a visit here, there are lots of better things to see in Budapest. My wife absolutely did not enjoy it!

“The crude staff ruined this visit”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

We came with our 4-year old boy, hoping this is a good idea. BUT, after they took our money for the ticket, the staff told us, we can not enter in the museum with our backpacks. My husband tried to explain that he is a photographer and his equipment worth several thousand dollars, beside that there were our passports, documents, credit cards, significant amount of money, keys, etc. They did not wont to bother with us, saying this was our problem, and even they refuse to refund our money. My question is: When they saw us with the backpacks why they did not say us firstly the rules about entering, before taking money?! Hugh disappointment. They completely ruined our visit. It seems that communism still rules in Hungary.

“Nice to place to visit with younger children”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2013

Do not expect a lot of trains, planes and automobiles in this museum. But it is a good place to visit with young children, I would say up to 13 yrs old. There is a collection of trains (most models), cars and a space capsule. There is also a small collection of toys from the past. The location in the city park is good and can be reached by metro.
