Wonderful castle is not particularly far away from the city center, I really enjoyed this area, a very well preserved castle where the entrance is free and it is a pleasure to stroll and admire the magnificent drawbridge entrance and well kept gardens.
Apart from these beautiful buildings there is not much else to see.

Cross the bridge over the man made lake from heroes square and you will find the castle on the right hand side. There is astatue of Alparignac on the left who designed the castle before crossing the moat. No-one has ever lived here.
We had a private small organ concert in the church on the left and is very pleasing if you book this as a group in advance.
The surrounding park, zoo and a few eateries can make a whole day in this area.
If you have children, bring some old bread to feed the small fish, ducks and cormorants.

Beautiful place. Lots of attractions near, like Zoo, Heroes Square, City Park. Lots of different buildings when you get inside the wall(in front you can find lots of street vendors).

i came across Vajdahunyad Castle on a hop-on hop-off bus tour after getting off at Heroes' Square. The building itself is a nice representation of Castle styles throughout Hungarian history, but it does feel a little fake.

The best part of the Castle complex is the small Christmas Market which was lovely.

all in all its worth a look as part of a tour, but i wouldn't travel to see it alone.
