“Absolutely stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

The castle not located far from Heroes' Square is absolutely beautiful. I could have spent all day just walking round and looking at the various architectural styles on display - from Baroque, Gothic, Romanesque and Renaissance - pictures just do not do it justice. Jax Church in the grounds is stunning and the detail at the entrance is fantastic. Really wished we had more time to stay longer and will certainly ensure this happens on our next visit.

“interesting building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Vajdahunyad Castle is located not far from Hosok Tere (Heroes Square). It was built between 1896-1908. The castle feature copies of several landmark buildings from different parts of Hungary & various time periods: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque.
The main building is the agricultural museum, the biggest agricultural museum in Europe. We did not go in so we can't comment on the exhibit.

The statue of Anonymus is displayed in the castle court. We visited in winter therefore the water surrounding the castle was all dried up. I can only imagine, it must have been beautiful in summer when the lake is full of water. The area is very pleasant to walk around and if you have a chance, why not visit Szechenyi thermal bath across the road to relax.

“Doesn't compare to Buda Castle...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

...but it does LOOK more like a fairy tale castle. If you're up by Hero's Square, it's silly not to visit. And on a beautiful day it might be nice to have a picnic lunch in the surrounding park.

“Wished I had seen more”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

We wandered round the castle area, visited the Jak Church but due to lack of time, did not go into the museum. The Statue of Anonymous which is next door to the church is an amazing piece of work and it's nice to stroll around the cobbled area. Will go back to go inside the castle for a proper tour on next visit.

“Stunning.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

Yeah, that's right.
It looks like a fairy tale castle. And it is, sort of... .
This beautiful castle lies within a stunning park with a nice lake with exhibitions displayed in it and not far from the famous Széchenyi baths.
Give yourself at least 2 hours to explore the castle from the outside and wander through the park.
