I'm not sure which was more of an adventure, finding this place or once we got there! We went off to Vaci utca as directed by the rough guide only to find a derelict sight so after a frantic few minutes on the iPhone (£5 later!!) we found the new address right across the other side of town at the Millenaris park. 20-22 Feny Utca. 1024 Budapest. But it was well worth the trek. There were instructions in English for each of the hands on exhibits which were just as fun for adults as kids. The place was clean and there were plenty of helpers and staff around. It's a must if you come to the city with children but try to get there before the end of school hours because the place becomes over run then. The outside space is well laid out and there is a couple of good basic cafes. My advice for travelling there is get a tram to the Mammot shopping centre and walk from there.

Museum showcasing lots of science laws almost all of them in an interactive way . Also topics like "optical illusions" , experience with traveling of sound , hydrophysics, etc . Many topics are so "day-to-day" that also small kids are enthusiastic .(ball staying in middle of an upward stream of air, etc) . Our daughter had just reached 6 yrs and loved the place. Really wonderful place where kids are encouraged to look for answers and experience. We spent around 4 hrs continuously busy . And many of the explained examples are also nice to know for adults for that matter. As we were visiting they performed lab experiments in which e.g. the effect of liquid nitrogen on rubber, etc was shown. Next to museum waterpark where kids can feed fish . It's adjacent to Millenaris Park where there is a playground for kids.

Very good mix of amusement park and learning center - lots of funny and interesting attractions, like riding on a rope with one-wheeled monocycle, driving a car with square wheels and many many others. You can easily spent 3 hours there and your kids will love it. As I understood you can also leave the place and come back on the same day, as you get a bracelet at the entrance. Everything is explained in English and Hungarian, but for most of the attractions no special instructions are needed. There is a cafeteria in the same building, so you can have a coffee while your kids enjoy the place. There are several attractions for kids in the same park, including playground, so you can easily spend the whole day in this area. Check also their website (google millenaris budapest) for events and concerts. Also, it is very close to Mamuth shopping mall, so the neighborhood has something for everyone. Highly recommended!

We went there with our two girls age 5 and 9! Fantastic interactive Science place (I would not call it a museum, because that may already sound boring). You can easily spend three hours walking around and doing all different types of experiment. Our girls wanted to stay even longer but we had to leave after about 2.5 hours. The instructions are in English as well even though it seems that the majority were local people. Very educational and on top of it very cheap!!! The entry fee for the whole family was only about 15 Swiss Francs. You can very easily reach it with the underground.
