Novum Hotel Golden Park Budapest
Ranked #243 of 334 Hotels in Budapest
Reviewed March 10, 2013

I've spend a three days in the Golden Park Hotel in February and still wondering why is it a 4* hotel? Most of the hotel guests were dancing studios from the region and myself was there from the same reason accompanying my 7 years old daughter.
Good things first - location of the hotel is very good, it's a walking distance from the city centre, two exchange offices are next to the hotel, rooms and bathroom are very clean. Reception stuff is very helpful.
Bad things - lobby and halls look very old and have that specific smell when something is not cleaned on regular basis. Rooms are quite small but that didn't relly bother us because we didn't spend a lot of time inside.Heating was a problem in many rooms. There was 80 people in my group and many of them had a trouble to heat up or cool the room. But the worst of all, especially when staying with kids, was the restaurant and the food. We had breakfest and dinner. If you got up early enough you could get some fresh fruit, otherwise...Cereals also, as well as bread! But breakfast was great comparing to the dinner - no choice of food, soup and one meal (badly cooked by the way) and no salad at all. Restaurant is very dark and stuff was almost throwing the plates in the front of you.
The only good thing about this stay in Budapest is that it was snowing almost all the time and city really looked great, almost like you're in a tale.

Stayed here because a Topdeck tour started here. Staff was helpful and most of them spoke English. The rooms were tiny and the bathroom flooded on a regular basis which left a funky smell. Not sure how they managed four stars. The Italian restaurant had delicious food but I did encounter a cockroach on my table. The hotel is close to the station so easy to get around but I would prefer to stay in town. Seems to cater to big groups which clogs the common areas. But free wifi worked in my room on the third floor so it isn't just the lobby like they say! Not a bad place, but not exceptional.

We had a discount voucher for this hotel. Apparently the four stars are because of restaurant exists, breakfast is served and laundry service is available. Otherwise the room was small but clean, the shower worked good and had warm water. A fridge was a pleasant surprise.

The location is maybe 2km from the city center but a metro station is right next to the hotel.
Our room was in first floor on the street side, but still there were no noise in the room.

I recommend this hotel if you get a good price from some of the internet-reservation services!

Stayed in this hotel for 5 nights including a weekend. Admittedly, expectations were not high.

Room was a twin, smoking room on the fourth floor, facing out onto where the trams departed. Have absolutely no complaints with the room. Comfortable, clean and bathroom was immaculate. Noise wasn't an issue either, so long as balcony doors remained shut.

Staff are very friendly and most speak good English.

Location of hotel is fantastic - admittedly not too near the centre of Pest but hotel is a stones throw away from the M2 line which takes about 10 minutes to get into the centre.

Would definitely go back!

Friendly staff. They gave us a lot of useful info of the city and a very useful map. The room was OK, nothing to complain about, but nothing astonishing. One problem: every morning at 7-8 o'clock the maids were slamming the doors on the hallway and woke us up. It is situated in a good location, close to the train station.

this hotel is certainly not 5 star but for what we paid and what we needed it was perfect. Small but clean double room, clean bathroom although maybe could do with a larger shower area. Great buffet breakfast.very close to train station so useful if you want to explore further, also useful to have such a large focal point when you are trying to get your bearings. Not in the busy centre of town but buses and trams always passing, but not an unwalkable distance from anywhere. we walked to Buda and back one day (in the snow), and to the zoo another day. If you are looking for a cheap base to just sleep it its fine

Room Tip: rooms overlooking the glass dining room roof will be quieter as can't hear the trams
