Novum Hotel Golden Park Budapest
Ranked #238 of 332 Hotels in Budapest

When you book into a four star hotel you expect it to be just that. Unfortunately this was not so at Golden Park. The first room I was given was simply shocking - burn marks on the carpet, ripped curtains, stains on the bed, cracked vanity and the list goes on. I was shocked. I asked reception to move me to another room - which they did. I was shown two rooms to choose from, one smelled like a cat has been living in it, peeing on the carpet, the other one was fine so I chose to stay. The staff are friendly and kind. The breakfast was not very good I must say. The location - a walk from the train station, and the metro is not far as well as the bus stop for all the hop on hop off buses, only a 10 minute walk. Overall I would not return to this hotel, though the experience would have been different slightly if I was given the last room straight away. The tip would be - don't settle for anything that doesn't look right - it's not acceptable to be given a room in such a shocking state.

This is a good hotel for 1-3 night stay. It is not so clean, so bring your slippers. The rooms are ok, but make sure you got the ones looking at the restaurant. Other sides are a bit noisier since the main train station is just a cross, metro below and other transportation on sides. The breakfast is excellent. Just to sleep over - the best hotel in Budapest! Its not a 4 star, but the ones near can be 10 star hotels - they are on the noisier side of the city.

I'm currently writing this review locked in my bathroom at this hotel, it's quite possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Everytime you lock the door to the bathroom, you can't unlock it, after two or three calls to reception and still no fix, this is not good enough for what is described as a 'four star hotel'. My girlfriend turned the shower on and the entire back wall of the shower was covered in urine, which then soaked the entire bathroom and stunk out our hotel room. The rooms are the size of a jail cell as well, don't waste your time here, it's possibly a three star hotel at best. It's a joke.

I see many people leaving negative comments for this hotel and i don't really understand why?? I stayed with my gf for 3 nights and we were more than happy. Rooms were clean, and staff was very helpful. It's not located in the very centre of the town, but you can walk to it in less than 20 min. However the metro station is located exactly in front of the hotel and you need just 2-3 metro stops to he Vaci street. Only complain could be said to the room size which was small but if you're in Budapest you will not spend much time in the hotel anyway.

If you are looking for a hotel near train station just to sleep over, this is OK hotel, but if you are staying for few days, look further. We stayed 4 nightis.
This hotel is perfectly located if your destination is Keleti station and makes a good overnight stop if one has an early train out of Budapest the following day.

The rooms we had were too small. It seemed that ti is single room where thay are pushed one more bed. You can't normally pass from one side of the room to the other. No place to put lugagge down. Mini bar was empty!!! I never seen something like that! It is not 4 star hotel. Trust me!

Wifi only at reception!

Cleanliness is ok, and bed is very comfortable. We slept very well.

Breakfast is eatable, very average, but stay away from coffee, juice, eggs, sausages.
But it is not breakfast for 4 star hotel.
When I saw paper table cover, I could not believe.
The staff in the restaurant how wearing sneakers (!!!) is very clumsy and banging dishes and food scraps collected in plastic buckets. Terribly. It is not 4* hotel!

The front desk staff was unfriendly, unhelpful, and generally rude.
No one was able to say even hello!

I would never stay at this hotel again and have advised all my traveling friends to avoid.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel!

I was slightly worried after reading various bad reviews on trip advisor, but I thought I'd give it a go. After being accidentally given single rooms we were (within half an hour) sat in our own double rooms (non-smoking as requested) even with a balcony.

We stayed for 3 nights and didn't have any problems. The rooms were cleaned really well each morning and the breakfast was pretty good as well.

I purchased the hotel through an external holiday site and got a really good deal. If you're looking for a good place to stay with nice food with some mates I'd happily advise this hotel.

Sauna was out of order. :(
