Travelling on business, I like a hotel to have comfortable beds, powerful showers, hair dryers, tea making facilities in rooms, choice of breakfast and competent front desk staff. Golden Park Hotel has most of these - and the wrought iron balconies are beautiful.

However, carpets are shabby round the edges and my international adapter failed to stay in the socket - and the hotel wasn't able to supply another. There are no kettles in the rooms and - if you want one - a charge is made. Unlike other reviewers, I didn't encounter noisy school parties. The young people who appeared in considerable numbers at breakfast were quiet and very well behaved.

Currently the hotel is surrounded by building sites and it's also situated in the dubious sort of environment usually found near central railway stations. If you're arriving by train, its location could be very convenient. I'd have preferred a different part of town.

Room tip: Ask to have a room facing the other wing of the hotel rather than the outside street.

Went here for my stag weekend - prebooked for 3 nights at a cost of £55. The hotel is virtually outside the Keleti train station and has a metro station outside its front door. Upon walking into the hotel we were greeted by a light and airy foyer and pleasant and friendly reception staff who checked us in efficiently. Stayed in a triple room, it was large, spotlessly clean, air conditioned (always welcome at night when the temperatures were 29 to 30 degrees. The only slight criticism that the lighting in the room was not brilliant but this is only a very minor thing. The shower was good and powerful, just what was needed to wake you up. There is a little supermarket next to the hotel, useful for bottled water and their are Mcdonalds and Burger King over the road - ideal for breakfast. The hotel also has a bar (although we did not try that) apart from the coffee and hot chocolate which was the same price as McDonalds. The hotel is on the main road called Rakoczi ut and follow this to all the main drinking places such as szimplers bar and old man music bar which was happenign on the Saturday night. Smaller bars = cheap drinks but the main ones as those mentioned are equitable to the UK but still a brill trip. Deffo coming to Budapest and will stay here again.

Room tip: Pre book for the cheaper prices

Great hotel. Everything was clean, staff was very friendly, located RIGHT near the train. Plus the bar/lounge downstairs is a nice place to relax, and drinks are reasonably priced. The only negative was the tiny room; if you need a lot of space for luggage or extra people, I wouldn't recommend it. For me and my partner it was just enough room. Overall, great experience!

First if all, the location is pretty much the best you can get in Budapest if you're planning on traveling to other near-by cities 'cause keleti train station is right in front of you. Also, a step away from the front door (and I mean it) there is a metro 2 line! Who could ask for more? And if you're into shopping, it's a five minute walk from the largest shopping center, the arena plaza.

About the hotel itself, a really nice hotel and nice rooms, the staff was so helpful! At 11 pm the shower hose broke and after a quick call to the reception, a guy came instantly and opened an alternate room for us to take a shower. First thing in the morning after, they fixed it. I would definitely stay there again. Thank you.
Tzahi.
