Travelling on business, I like a hotel to have comfortable beds, powerful showers, hair dryers, tea making facilities in rooms, choice of breakfast and competent front desk staff. Golden Park Hotel has most of these - and the wrought iron balconies are beautiful.
However, carpets are shabby round the edges and my international adapter failed to stay in the socket - and the hotel wasn't able to supply another. There are no kettles in the rooms and - if you want one - a charge is made. Unlike other reviewers, I didn't encounter noisy school parties. The young people who appeared in considerable numbers at breakfast were quiet and very well behaved.
Currently the hotel is surrounded by building sites and it's also situated in the dubious sort of environment usually found near central railway stations. If you're arriving by train, its location could be very convenient. I'd have preferred a different part of town.
