Lovely walk up from Gellert hotel, though quite steep so you may prefer to take the tourist bus. Stunning views from the top. Interesting to walk around the ramparts of the Citadel, and a nice cafe overlooking the river and over to Pest.

One is intrigued by the large lettering near the top of this building and one wonders what it really is, interestingly on our tour we were told

The context here is that I visited in high fall. So the view from the top of the hill was prettier than I could possibly have imagined from the bottom and doing the climb on foot was great exercise but also very manageable. Even if your visit is a short one (mine was, too), this is worthwhile.

We walked up Gellert Hill on a national hungarian holiday, the day of the republic. With great weather it was really nice to climb up the hill and we were awarded with nice views of Budapest. Ideal to shoot pictures or enjoy the nice weather, we walked up hill on the Gellert Spa side and descended on the statue and waterfall side. Paths can be steep but don't let this be a showstopper.

This is probably the highest point to take a picture of Budapest from. Other than that there is not much more at the top of the hill.
