This is more than just a hill! It’s steep, make no mistake! Rather take a bus up and walk down! Several view points to take panoramic pictures or just to get orientated with the vastness of Pest! You can go down with the bus but the walk is recommended! See a little bit of nature, autumn is beautiful !

What a way to knacker ourselves out!

There is a more circuitous route should you choose, or the tourist bus will take you to the top if you don't fancy killing yourselves.

Several in our party were from the former USSR, so the old Soviet Statuary was of interest to us in putting the picture together of Hungarian history. We had a guide that put this on the agenda, along with many other local attractions. We appreciated the stories she shared as the meshed with those of the people in our group. Just for the size and strength of the figures, it's worth the trip up to the top.

One of the best view to Budapest from the hill. There are a lot of tourist around but it is worth to come for some photos. If you are here you can have a walk to the other side of the hill to Gellert Spa. Or come on foot from Gellert Spa to here. Don’t forget to weat comfortable sport shoes for the trip. You can find some nice view spots without tourists.

It was great getting up to where the status was. You can see all the bridges from up there. It gets really busy here as everyone wants to take a pic or 2. Be sure to take pics near the low fence to capture you and the view of Buda and pest including the bridges.
It is definitely a must see and must do.

the view from the top across to the pest area is really wonderful both at night and day .Up close the monument is as striking as looking at it from the pest side think I prefer to see it at night as it is well lit .if using the hop on hop off buses make sure you stay for 30 minutes giving time to walk passed the citadell and see it up close stunning

Gellért hill is certainly a great hike if you are able to! Seems it’s a family picnic spot for localities. You go on to the Buda side crossing the chain bridge to get to this Gellért hill.

There are steps and winding roads to reach to the top of the hill, but mind you some of them are steep! Few minutes into your hike you find the St Gellért’s statue. He was the first bishop sadly killed by pushing him over the hill locking him up in a barrel.

Head on to the top of the hill where you can find Statue of Liberty and Citadel. This is the highest point in Budapest so you can’t get any better views than here.

The views are amazing from here especially during the dawn or dusk(do take care of you are hiking during these times).

A very nice stroll up Gellert Hill to the Citadel for fantastic views over Budapest and of the statue itself

Great views around Budapest. Busy place but great photo opportunities. Difficult to get a photo of the whole monument & statues - wide angle lens would have helped. Castle ruins interesting as well. Used the Hop on Hop off bus to get to this site.
