I love Zoo's. I have been to London Zoo, Prague Zoo and now Budapest Zoo.
They have every animal you might want from a Zoo. Polar Bears, anacondas, elephants, giraffes, tigers and an Orang-utan! Good zoo!
Oh, and try and go on a day that isn't a public holiday!! School boy error!

This zoo may be small but packs in loads to see. In 2013 they have had a baby boom with tiger, lion and sloth babies amongst many others. There are several walk through enclosures, includign the birds of prey. The kids especially liked feeding the goats, llamas and the giraffes. Just a point to note - although the zoo opens at 9am , the inside enclosures don't open until 10am. There is a very good childrens play area for the smaller ones.
We didn't eat in the zoo but in the restaurant next door which is very pricey if you go al a carte but by taking the set 3 course menu which includes a glass of wine is very reasonable.

This was one of the best trips to a zoo that we've had yet. It is quite large and there is a huge range of animals to see. The best thing about it though is the number of baby animals that they currently have, including tigers, lions, leopard, giraffes, gorilla, orang-utan, elephant, sloth, monkey and llama (that I can remember). The tiger cubs wrestling with their mother was the highlight, but they were all very cute and made for a highly enjoyable visit.

Right next to Hero's square in Budapest, the Zoo is a great day out! You could easily spend all day here whether you're an adult or taking kids it's worth a trip. Entry is cheap compared to England and if you have the Budapest card you will receive a discount. There are loads of animals and houses to go round and you can get really close to come of them (the sloths in particular). I don't know for certain but I think it might be a breeding zoo as they had baby lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes and I read afterwards rhino but didn't see the baby. There are also polar bears, wombats, gorillas (i did not expect this) and hyenas as well as loads more. Definitely worth a visit....perhaps take lunch to avoid queuing though.

We went during the Hungarian school holiday so if you can avoid this I would recommend it as the children will crowd round the animals and you will have to wait, also at weekends the queues to get in can be huge so try to go on a weekday at least.
