A trip to the Citadella is a must for anyone visiting Budapest! It offers probably the best panoramic views of the city that you will find anywhere.

“The view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2013

Worth a visit to see the view from Citadella - on a bright clear day its fantastic with the sweep of the Danube (Duna) below, the bridges, Parliament and St Stephen's Basilica. Get a cab to the top and then walk down the (steep knee killing) paths to the river. Excellent and recommended especially as we did on a bracing, sunny cold day in December recently. At the bottom, catch a tram which takes you to the funicular along the river and then ride up the neighbouring hill to the National Gallery and the lovely village atmosphere at the top.

“Great view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2013

You have to deserve the view by walking up there! We didn't get in because my guide book told me that the 2 exhibitions that you have to pay for are not worth it. we came in by the Erzsébet bridge and went back by the Gellert Hotel.

“amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2013

it´s the most beautiful view of budapest. you can walk up the hill there is plenty to see. in 15 minute you can reach the top where is the big monument of freedom . you can go in the castle and I suggest you see the bunker because the fotos of the budapest after and during the war are breathtaking.there is also a church in the rock which it´s worth a visit. you´ll find it on the way up from gellert thermae.highly recommended.
