“Beautiful view”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

The Citadella is located on one of the hills in Buda. It's very beautiful place with magnificent view over the city of Budapest. It's nice, if you have the possibility, to see it through the day and also in the evening.

“What a view!”

Make sure you pay a visit to the Citadella lookout. The views are simply amazing and you can take the opportunity to create your own postcards worth pictures.

“DO NOT MISS THE CITADELLA in BUDAPEST, HU”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

One of the highlights of our trip to Budapest Hungary was our visit to the Citadella, high above the city overlooking Budapest. The best time to visit this site is about an hour or so before the sun sets, so you can get some beautiful panorama pictures of the Danube River and see both the Buda and Pest side of the city. As the sun sets, watch as the magic happens..... the city and bridges light up and the lights from the ships on the Danube. The views are breathtaking and should not be missed. Make sure to have extra batteries and plenty of space on your camera card because there are so many beautiful views to capture, both day and night. We took a cab to get there, as the climb is too steep for the "over the hill gang". This is an attraction not to be missed. This attraction is great for couples, families or anyone who loves amazing views.

“How to get there!”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

Ok, this is for anyone who wants to get to the top without walking...trust me..it is beautiful up there so go! BUT be warned..you will not find a way to get there unless you read this, or ask the bell hop at the Gellert.

First, go to Market Hall and catch the 41, 47 or 49 tram going to the Buda side. Go two stops past Szt. Gellért tér and get off...this will be a main metro stop. You have to look for a sign but you will see one that says 'Citadala' with an arrow up the street..follow that one. You will pass 2 or 3 bus stops (in short order) until you see #27. That is your ride, the #27 short bus.

Take that to the top, a short walk and you are in for a full view of the beautiful city. My wife and I had a few beers at the top and while they cost more than down below, not well above average. The staff was very friendly, so take an hour or two to take in the moment and enjoy the view.

Reverse course on the way back down but get off at Szt. Gellért tér. Walk along the river to Batthyany Ter (approx 1km??) and before getting on the metro back to Pest...take in the site of Parliament from across the Danube

(PS..it took us over 2 hrs to figure out how to get up that hill using the local maps and TA!) We hope you fare better with this!!

The key is...ask...'where is the #27 bus'
