Owner description: Located on the summit of Gellert Hill, this fortress was built by the Hapsburgs in 1854 to keep the city under surveillance.

Located upon the top of the strategic Gellert Hill in Buda side, a walk to the top is a good exercise and very rewarding when you reach the top, breathtaking fortress, you will see the panoramic view of Danube River with their two distinct bridges, the Chain & Margaret, please don't forget to bring your DSLR for a fantastic photos, a great place to visit while you are in Hungary, after we viewed all those spectacular & wonderful sights we came down hungry and we tried to eat their famous local Goulash.

We did this our first night in Budapest as it is a great panorama of the city.
Later on in the week, we took the hop on hop off red line bus and after admiring all the beautiful facades that Budapest has to offer, we decided to stop at Citadella because of the views. They are breathtaking!!!! You can see it all from there and you just want to sit down and take it all in!!!! From there we went down to see the statue with the waterfall, and then walked all the way to the fonicular that took us to Buda Hill and then we walked to Fisherman's Bastion.

I loved the view from the very top, but honestly I was not impressed with the museum because I thought I would see real items. There were wax statues, pictures of WWII and weapons, which I actually liked. The museum shows a piece of Hungarian history under the Nazi occupation and WWII.
If you go, enjoy the scenery from the top.

Great place to see all of Buda and Pest at once. Has shops, restaurants and a museum! We took the hop on hop off bus up. They gave us 15 mins to take in the view. Perfect.

The first thing you will feel it there is the Temperature will come down !!! , you can smell the dust and you can feel the shouting of the Prisoners under torture !!! , you will find some guns back to the Nazi from second world war !! , you will find some pictures there back you that time .

You will see Budapest from the hill as well .

Thank LN A
