“Saw R&J musical there”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

The theater building is really nice, so I was pretty much busy with looking around as I was waiting for the musical to start. I liked the performance. Hungarian language is a bit hard for me to perceive, but that has no connection with Operetta Theatre :)

“A must see”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

The building is something else, when paying to do the tour make sure to queue in the gift shop and not at the performance ticket office. Also I'd advise not to pay 500 UHF for the camera pass or to see the mini concert either no one checks your wrist band. Waste of money if you ask me. No one checks either. For the tour pass and mini concert is about 8000 huf

“The Capital of Operetta”
Reviewed December 24, 2012

If you stay in Budapest even for one night you should go to Operetta Theater. The one of the fathers of operetta Imre Kalman has worked here. Most famous operettas were born in this place. The Theater is gorgeous. Crystal chandeliers, velour armchairs, long pedestrian halls make your visit exiting. The Performance was great. The artists, decorations, the costumes are not forgettable. We enjoyed every moment listening famous arias. You can buy tickets on line in advance and print them.
The area around the Operetta Theater is very nice:gorgeous buildings and cafes.

“Rating for the building, not the mini concert”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

I like old ornate buildings so I enjoyed the tour of the opera house. It was a bit crowed since they do all the languages at the same time but they spaced us well.
A local suggested we sign up for the mini concert at the end of tour. Don't do it. I thought it was going to be in the main Opera House. Instead, they herded all of the mini concert listeners to a lounge and a guy came in and sang 3 songs and left. I felt I was just hustled by a street entertainer.
