“excellent decoration but acoustic could be better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013

The building was recently renovated and with excellent decoration both in the waiting area and also inside. However, probably because it was a relatively small venue, the brass sound a bit too loud.

“waste of time don't go!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

Waste of time and money.
10 min walk in the museum about 1500 huf each ticket. you are not allowed to take pictures. nothing much to see. We came there since it was late to go inside the house of terror that is located next to it.

“Nice building”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

Definitely worth walking by and make a photo! The surrounding areas are nice as well. Kiraly utca is my favourite street in Budapest, while Liszt Ferenc tér is the nicest pedestrian area in the city in my view

“Beautiful from the Outside”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2012

I have lived in Budapest for the past year, and the entire time I have been in Budapest the Liszt Academy has been closed for renovations, so I cannot provide information about the inside of the building. The outside is splendid, however. At one end of Liszt Square, it reigns supreme, with a statue of the master himself presiding over the door. The building has many of the Secessionist features unique to Budapest such as medallion-shaped faces adorning the outside of the building, and other unique details. Based on the outside, I can only assume the inside is just as interesting, and I can't wait when the renovations are finished. My only regret is that is was closed for the celebration of the Liszt centennial.

“Liszt Comes Alive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2012

Be sure to purchase the inexpensive audio guide. The guide describes the various rooms, furniture, and pianos. With the piano descriptions, you will hear beautiful recordings of the pianos you are looking at. This is what brings life to the museum! It is amazing that despite the horrors of the world wars so many things from Liszt's past are on display in such excellent condition. Also, don't miss the interactive display on the first floor of Liszt's life and times. Like the museum, this is not well advertised.
